Fifties retro is easy - just wear a big skirt, a T-shirt and a scarf tied round your neck (not the winter kind! And tie your hair in a ponytail if it will go. I can lend you a great polkadot skirt if you want.

I have a polka-dot skirt (black with white dots) that should fit; it's technically a 12 but is meant to sit on the hips, so it can be hoiked up and worn around a 14-16 waist, and just flares out and looks even more 50s-y. There's a red slightly-50s sweater that goes well with it too. Not sure if there's anything else but I can have a rummage, if you want to pop around after work tomorrow or Friday, perhaps? If Friday, roz_mcclure will be around; either way I can give you a bit of food and you can see if the skirt's any good.
