Drabble: "Mend (Remix of Good With Her Hands)" (HP; Millicent/Hermione)

Sep 16, 2012 19:07

I wrote this for the Femslash Remix event earlier this summer. It was the first time I wrote a remix, but it was fun! I went for the "remix a story into a drabble" challenge (surprise, surprise) and this is the result.

I was also lucky enough to have
kelly_chambliss remixing one of my fics: The Good Life is a witty, snarky, thoroughly delightful story about two strong-willed women, Minerva McGonagall and Rita Skeeter, trying to outsmart one another. Do read it, if you haven't already.

Title: Mend (Remix of Good with Her Hands)
Fandom: HP
Rating: G
Pairing: Millicent Bulstrode/Hermione Granger
Word count: 100
Summary: Magic or manual labour: Millicent finds a use for both.
Warnings: None
Original story/artwork, creator, and link: Good with Her Hands by woldy.
Notes: First posted here. Thanks so much to
woldy  for letting me remix her work, and for organising the event!

Her father had taught her to mend things without magic; he'd learned it from his father, a Muggle. Although Millicent never told anyone, she took pride in this ability to pass between worlds, using magic or hands, depending on the situation.

When clever-clogs Granger first asked for her help, Millicent felt gleeful: she could do Muggle tasks a Muggleborn couldn't. Granger flushed, embarrassed; Millicent smirked.

Several weeks later, Hermione still blushes under Millicent's gaze. Other things have changed.

When Millicent's hand finally reaches out to do its last bit of mending, the worlds converge in the magic of Hermione's smile.
