Informal writing challenge: week 2

Apr 20, 2014 21:07

So did you meet the goals that you set for yourself in this post? Comment here for bragging and/or pity-seeking. Don't be afraid to 'fess up; I won't yell at you. Unless you'd like me to, I guess.

These were my goals:

Non-fannish stuff, aka paper of doom: 1000 words. Fanfic: 500 words on at least one of my WIPs

I'm proud to say I met them both, though neither is finished as of yet.

This week I'm going to try and finish the paper, which needs to be quite longer than it currently is -- at least 2000 words longer. Also I'll try for another 500 words of fic.

I had to write a porn fic of 3K words. I did that, and also wrote an additional porn fic for a tag challenge of 3K words. Extra 5K of extraneous fic, but failed to finish my WIP chapter. Fail on that front.

Congrats on meeting both of yours!

This week, I'm definitely going to finish the chapter, tidy up another fic and work on a draft of my Big Bang,

Excellent work! 5K extra fic totally makes up for not finishing a chapter, in my book. *nods*

I accomplished precisely none of my writing goals.

But I did manage the last-minute lesson plan that was requested of me, made it through my emotional week from hell and a wisdom tooth consultation appointment, and got through an outside evaluation of my teaching with flying colours so I'll still consider the week a success.

This week is the work week from hell as it's April break and we're running a full-time camp with just two of the instructors available, so I'm not going to promise much.

I would like to do any sort of for-fun writing/editing at all, especially when I'm house-sitting from Thursday to Monday, but if all I manage is firming up lesson plans and hard-core recovering on the weekend I will still be relieved and proud.

(I'm going easy on myself for April. I will not be so forgiving come May and June.)

That definitely sounds like quite a week! Congrats on dealing with all of that. *hands out buttpats and celebratory drinks*

Going easy on yourself is absolutely allowed. If there is interest, I'll keep this running over the next few weeks, so there's still time left to set yourself more fanfic goals, should the mood so take you.

Thank you! It was quite the week. Grinning at the buttpats and the celebratory drinks. :P

I'll definitely stay interested! If it doesn't take too much out of you, I think it's pretty wonderful; even not succeeding I still had it in the back of my head as a reminder. If at any point it gets too tiring for you, feel free to let me know and I can post them unlocked to carry it on. (:

Thanks! I do think I'll manage for the time being, though; it's not a hardship at all. :-)

I completely managed to miss last week's post, but this week I plan to finish making the holiday picture album of our last holiday. And about time, too. When that is out of the way, I will start working on my WIP again.

No worries about missing the last post; this runs on a weekly basis, after all. Sounds like a good plan! I say, having still lying around an unfinished album with pictures from a holiday taken in 2005.

I also missed last week's post, but this week is April Break and my plan is to try a week of Camp Nano. So far - I am on day four of a ten day break and I have met the first day's word count goals, so not so good. :p

We'll see.

Any words are better than no words, in my book -- good luck!
