Loved this film. I don't care if the reviewers on the telly said it was "smug". It's not Revolutionary Road, or American Beauty - it's not supposed to be. I confess that my interest was piqued, not because it was directed by Sam Mendes (though he does have props for bagging Kate Winslet) but because of 'identity-theft-is-not-a-joke-Jim!' JOHN KRASINSKI...which reminds me that I need to find someone to vent like a healthy person about his engagement to Emily Blunt (and from Michael Buble to John? UPGRADE)
The film was set out like little episodes strung after one another, so each segment had it's own kind of story and different characters - which essentially gave an excuse to have some killer supporting cast. Maggie Gyllenhaal was probably my favourite. I did read that Toni Collette was originally panned for the character of LN, but seeing Maggie I can't imagine anyone else in that role. Which is a compliment, considering how much I love Toni. I don't think I'll ever look at strollers the same (or prams for us Aussies...). Or seahorses.
Also the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard. I'll even go as far to say that it's better than Garden State. And that soundtrack was all kinds of great.
Go see Away We Go. It'll make you feel fuzzy on the inside.
