Glass Stuff - I'm so excited!!!!

Apr 20, 2008 19:17

Ok - I'm putting pictures behind the cut, but I'm so excited with how stuff has turned out I'm showing you my glass before I've done any coldwork (cleaning it up after firing) and one piece before I've fired it.

This is my square glass combing before I took it out of the kiln.  I did the swirly parts with a stainless steel rod while the glass was molten.

This is my round combing before I took it out of the kiln.

This is my round combing after I pulled it out of the kiln.  Pretty colors.

This is my flower plate (10" round) after firing but before I pulled it out of the kiln.  I surprised myself and went outside of my usual color palate.  This piece has so much depth.  I can't wait to polish it.

This is a glass box.  I used some irridized black glass as a base and painted on it with micas, then filled the box with pieces of clear glass.  It came out nice, but needs some trimming and polishing.

This is my 8 x 10 inch sushi plate before firing.  And yes, I am that compulsive about pieces being exactly the same size in length.

This is a glory hole.  And no, my male friends, you do not want to stick your manly bits in this as it gets up to 2000 degrees.  I got to play and make pretty little pieces of glass cane with this today.  Whee fun.  And no, I did not burn myself.

I'm having so much fun.
