Here is some of the yarn I have dyed recently using natural dyes. I ended up getting some Cormo yarn and some Cormo-Alpaca yarn. I have 4 of each of the colorways. It was expensive yarn, but it it is really wonderful and absolutely delicious. Both are from a family farm that grows, processes, and spins the wool. The yardage is about 1700 yards per pound and will knit up as sport weight or a litle lighter. It came in 2oz hanks with 220+ yards per hank. These will be posted to
Dea Terra tonight.
From top to bottom:
Carnival: pink, orange, and yellow on Cormo-Alpaca
Pink: pale pink with short stripes of dark pink, yellow, and gray on Cormo-Alpaca
Old Rose: dusty pink, gray, cream on Cormo
Winter Squash: sage green, gold, and cream on Cormo
Raisin: burgundy, burnt orange, faded gold, tan on Superwash Merino-Tencel (shiny, but not as shiny as the flash makes it look)
Manly: warm brown, warm gray, and natural on Cormo
Raisin and Manly were test hanks and I made more of them last night on Cormo wool.
Old Rose: I sandwiched the Wensleydale hank you already saw between the Cormo versions. The texture and shine of the Wensleydale makes them look a little different even though the color is quite close.
Two merino sock yarns that I posted last night. Both of them were dipped in my indigo pot and then painted with the other colors.
I also dyed some Merino-Tencel roving last night. In the next day or two I will start on Superwash Merino-Tencel and Wensleydale yarns. I have more merino sock yarn on order too.
Whew! I am a dyeing maniac. There will be no flash dancing though, I promise, pinky swear.
ETA: I seriously need naming help. Pink, Manly, Raisin, Winter Squash, and Carnival are pretty weak names in my humble opinion. I would love your suggestions.
