The Saga of The Cookie
Our boy dog, Toby, has a habit of stashing treats. He will run off to the closet and hide it in the corner. Not very subtle, especially when he stares at the hiding spot "guarding" it. We have to break them into bits so that he will eat them right away.
I should mention that Toby is a very sweet boy, but he is a simple boy. Not simple in the Shaker sense of the word, its more like the Special Olympics. We got him as an adult rescue about five years ago. He was found in Fresno, California and had obviously been neglected. We suspect he was left out in hot weather and got his brain a little baked.
Recently, my husband gave Toby a cookie. He put it in his mouth and started walking away. He had that crazed look in his eye; the look that says "must hide The Cookie, must hide The Cookie". Roger came up with the theory that if we offered him another cookie, Toby would drop the first cookie for the new cookie.
Hey, another cookie! I can fit it in my mouth.
Must eat second cookie! Yeah, there's room for more cookie.
Yikes! There is still more cookie!
See, I can totally hold more cookie in my mouth. There is room on the left. (Note that even though it looks like Roger is choking Toby, he is not. Roger is a very good doggie daddy).
We started taking the pieces from his jowls. In a panic (we were clearly trying to steal The Cookie), he dropped the first cookie and then shifted into gobble cookie mode.
And, as a bonus,
My FIL's dog, Pancho.
