Kang Ji Hwan and Yoon Eun Hye own my soul, but we already knew that, right?

Phew, finally back to the TV land! As a rule, when visiting family I try to be a good daughter and not watch too much stuff. There were obviously exceptions, like Fringe (because AHDFDFGFHGFH FRINGE, there’s no way I could wait for over a week to watch the finale) and, apparently, One Piece (it totally counted as quality time with my brother, yo), but in general, very little TV or Internet for me.

And so I’m back, and apparently, it’s that time of the year again. You know, the time when, after long months of apathetic disinterest I suddenly get a craving for a cute kdrama romcom and need to watch it right now, this second. The current Korean lineup has two dramas that appeal to me, for different reasons: Lie to Me (KANG JI HWAN. YOON EUN HYE. Together. SO MUCH HOTNESS I CAN’T EVEN.) and Best Love (because I never learn and the Hong sisters’ dramas always look so sparkly and pretty in the previews. Plus, I’m curious to see whether the cute guy from Triple is gonna get type-casted and we’re in for some adorable secondary guy stalking time).

Today I watched the first two episodes of Lie to Me and, while I can see why people weren’t amazed, I enjoyed the hell out of it. It’s not in any way groundbreaking, but at the moment it’s exactly what I’ve signed up for: fluffy, light, cliched fun, with some of my favourite Korean actors in the leading roles.

Mmm, Kang Ji Hwan in a suit. Yes, please.

Our heroine, Ah Jung, is your everyday hardworking civil servant. As it often happens in the magical land of Korea, one day she wakes up to find that, due to a combination of gossiping frenemies, mixing alcohol with bee stings and secret meetings in the middle of the Han River, everyone around her is convinced that she’s secretly married to a rich hotel president. Hilarity ensues.

Ah Jung is pretty great. She’s generally nice to people - but is not the kind of drama heroine that ~wants to see good in everyone~ and as a result lets the whole cast walk all over her. Nah, she definitely knows her worth and expects people to recognize it.

And this is nothing new, but seriously, how stunning can YEH get?

I’ll leave you with something I never thought I’d live to see in a kdrama:

I KNOW RIGHT :O

lie to me
