I am sci-fi

I'm reading the IMDB forum for Constantine. Why is it that things seem to just fly straight over a lot of people's head when they watch sci-fi movies? They could watch the most complicated drama ever, but when it comes to sci-fi suddenly everything is confusing, even the stuff that was mentioned twice during the movie. It seems like even sci-fi movies with pretty simple, straight forward plots get confused looks from a lot of people. I've always wondered why.

I like sci-fi a lot, especially action sci-fi (I love action movies too). If it's sci-fi (non-horror) I will go see it no matter what because I don't feel like there are enough sci-fi movies coming out to be picking about it. A lot of the time I come away liking the movie, but feeling that it could have been way better plot-wise and sometimes acting-wise. I try not to go in with any expectations, because I know how sci-fi movies get treated. It seems that when it comes to sci-fi the studios like to do a little trade off, pretty visuals for 'could have been way better' plots. Then again that's kind of the studio mantra for most films. =P
