He felt as if they should do something to commemorate their five-year anniversary. She, on the other hand, felt like they didn’t need to change any part of their routine in order to accommodate the holiday.

Ryuuji sighed, setting the now-clean dish on the rack, before moving to wash the next dish. Taiga sat at his feet-not a good location, but he had no say-hooked on his leg. Of course, he had to stop his mind from wandering to dangerous territories; she would pick up on it in an instant and call him out on his horn-dog tendencies so fast his head would spin.

“Ryuuji,” she said, cuddling against his leg. “We should go to bed.”

“It’s only seven,” he replied, not reading in between the lines of her statement.

“Then we’ll have a long time to sleep,” she said, stressing the last word. The emphasis made him realize just what she was talking about. He, apparently, wasn’t the only one with unclean thoughts, it seemed.

“Oh.”

“Now do you… understand?” she asked, her hand that was cradling his leg crept up, higher and higher. He gulped.

“I think so,” he replied slowly. “I just need to get these dishes washed and then we can… ahn… um…”

“You know you want to,” she cooed, daring to trail her hands even higher up his thigh, ghosting over his hip to the waistline of his pants. “Forget about the dishes. They’ll still be there.”

“That’s the thing, though,” he whined. Ryuuji felt a blush creep up to his ears, a hot, yet familiar, flush. Ryuuji should be used to her crude statements by now, especially when they were alone in his apartment like this; however, to hear those words come from his fiancée shocked him. She always tried to convince him, tempt him away from the menial household chores he found comfort in.

Taiga stood. She leaned against her fiancé, wrapping her arms around his waist while he continued to wash the dishes.

“You’re distracting,” he murmured with a wary smile.

“It’s our anniversary, remember?”

“Of course I remember. I also remember you hinting rather obviously that you didn’t want to go out, have a fancy dinner, or get an expensive present.”

“I do remember.” She grinned. “Don’t worry, dog. You’re not facing the heat.”

“I’d hope not,” he frowned at her. “I was going to take you out. I was going to do something nice. But… you’re going to have to make due with what I have for you here tonight.”

“You have stuff here?” she asked, looking around eagerly. “Where? What?”

“You’ll see. You said you wanted to go to bed, right?” he asked. “I have you covered in all of your favorite areas.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Mhm,” he replied, drying his hands. After he had finished, he turned into her embrace. “I have your favorite dinner. I have that plum wine you keep asking about. Plus, I kind of… sort of… bought something for you to wear. In… in there,” he nodded his head in the direction of the bedroom.

He knew how she felt about things that accentuated-or, rather, showed her lack of-her features (generally, her breasts). Even if she trusted him about teasing her, she was still vulnerable.

“I’m interested, I won’t lie,” she begrudgingly replied, smirking as she buried her face into his chest. After a couple minutes of silence, she added, “Let’s go celebrate.”
