I think it's pathetic when I run into someone I haven't seen in a while, ask them how they are and what's going on in their lives, and all they find to say is "I'm engaged." This move is usually followed by the holding out of their left hand to display an engagement ring. It makes me feel homicidal. Like, oh, you graduated college and entered the real world and you have NOTHING to say about your life or your career OTHER than that you have a rock on your finger?
