I have a new person to add to my list of enemies: the crossing guard who works the corner or Broadway and William St. in Fall River. I am adding him to my list because he is a very stupid man who seems hellbent on causing traffic hold-ups and/or accidents. Now... Unless I'm wrong, the proper way for a crossing guard to do his job is to stop traffic while cars are stopped at their respective intersections, and then guide the kids across the street. Oh, and it would help if he carries a sign or used a whistle. Sounds about right, doesn't it?

But this guy doesn't do things the sensible way. What he does, is let you start to turn, and then when you're about 2/3rds of the way through your turn, he walks out in front of your car (or almost into the side of your car like he did yesterday) causing you to slam on your brakes, and nearly hit him, or get rear-ended. And this is not the first time he's done this to me, and I suspect that I'm not the only person who he's done this to...I'm seriously considering calling city hall and the school committee, and letting them know about this guy. Not only is he a nuisance and a danger to drivers, but he's apparently unqualified for his job. If he can't cross a street safely himself, should we be trusting him to guide kids through traffic?
