I really don't undrestand how anyone can say "I'm proud to be a Canadian" when things like this happen. Yeah, it's happened before, yeah it happens often...but the kicker is that it doesn't have to happen at all. I try to see the good in people, because to believe that man-kind is generally cruel and heartless is the easy way out...but when those who are sworn to protect us as Canadians, as innocents, turns around and says "Send him away to be tortured...then maybe we'll get some information out of him that we couldn't get through ILLEGALLY monitoring him." Then what happens once they realize that he has nothing to give to them because...Oh, hey look at that...he's innocent! Maybe that's why you couldn't get any dirt on him...and yet, our police, our government officials sat around doing nothing...no, worse...they knew, they did this...and they can sleep at night? They can turn a blind eye knowing that an innocent man is being tortured daily because he was deported to Syria...
-ugh-
It makes me sick.
