Deja-vu.She'd heard the phrase used before, and from the context she'd heard it in she had a pretty good feeling it could apply to the situation she found herself in now: wandering the long corridors of a building as the sun set, stopping every now and then to gaze out the window at the night sky

Or maybe... maybe it was just waiting for someone.

Actually, she did come very close to stepping on poor little Uxie, as she was paying more attention to what was outside the windows than inside the halls at the time. She stopped short when she felt her bare foot bump against something small that made a sound like a squeaky toy.
"...Ah..."
She had seen this thing somewhere before. Something, whether a dim memory or just pure Pokemon instinct, told her that she should in fact know exactly what it was. Or maybe it was just a prop from the old theatre. She nudged it gently with her toe.

"M...my apologies. What purpose do you have laying about these corridors like this?"

It then stretched both arms up towards her.

--xie. Ah! That's what it was, it had to be! How on earth had she failed to recognize a Legendary being? Why, oh why did she touch him with her foot?!
She started to stand so she could bow, stopped halfway, started to make herself prostrate instead, stopped again, and... she probably looked pretty stupid, making such awkward and jerky movements. She'd never actually met such an important Pokemon before.
Or had she?
...She should probably say something. Why was there nobody hiding behind a curtain to remind her what to say?
"You are Uxie, are you not? I wasn't expecting to find you here." ...Why was he holding his arms up like that. What did that mean. What did he want from her oh no.

"You weren't expecting to find me here? Are you sure about that, Blacky?"
A knowing little smile. A pause. And then, an impatient jerk of his arms. "...Aren't you going to pick me up?"

He wanted her to pick him up. Oh wow. What an honour! She did so, but not with the same motherly instinct she had in life. She held him out at arm's length, not entirely sure just what to do with him. It was only then that she realized that he had said something strange.
"...Blacky. Is that my name?"

The thought was tempting. But she already felt some sort of connection with the name Blacky. Perhaps it was simply knowing that it was hers.
"I think I would much like to keep this one. Besides a name, I am looking to discover more of myself. Who I am, or who I may of been, or why this place is so familiar to me... Can you aid me, Uxie?"
You know. Since he was supposed to know everything.

"Very well. One mustn't argue with fate. Where can one find these... Headmasters?"
She was picturing two or more giant floating heads. SO CLOSE, BUT SO FAR.
