Enganess! :)

Oh my goodness! My lovely RJ proposed!!!! I am still in shock and can’t stop shaking! *beam*

To fully appreciate the tremendousness of this story you need to know the story of my “enga” ring first...

Journal entry from August 9th, 2006: While we were in Honiton I saw a beautiful, huge silver triffidlike ring but it was very expensive (£90!!!!)...but I tried it on anyway and attempting to scare RJ said "This is what I'd want my engagement ring to look like.. big and wild and statementy!!" *grin*

After we'd left the shop RJ said he needed to get some cash out and on returning from the ATM he presented me with a bundle of notes and said "I've never seen you look as happy as that ring made you, I can’t afford all of it but here is half the money towards it!" *grin* So we went back and bought it!!! It is made by a sculptor called Michael Shaw and is tremendous!!! *beam* (although RJ is getting his own back by calling it my 'enga' ring! (half an engagement ring)*eek*)....

Now back to 20th July 2008: This weekend was our four year anniversary and we had already celebrated it by going over to the West coast for a night earlier in the week so I had completely forgotten that Sunday was our actual anniversary day. Anyway we were just coming home from a lovely day at the Bradford Food Festival (involving seeing the most beautiful English Bull Terrier called Bubbles) when RJ said “What date is it today?” so I said “the twentieth” and he said “ So it’s our actual anniversary?” and I said “yes it is!” and he said “I might have a present for you” I was a bit surprised as we had already swapped cards and presents on Wednesday while we were away, so said “Really?... is it a nice present?” and he said “yes”. We got to his house and RJ scampered into his house and came back out and said “Close your eyes and hold out your hand” so I did and he said “You can open them now!”. In my hand was a beautiful black and silver ring box. My heart was pounding.... I opened it and inside was a folded up piece of paper. I slowly opened it and on in was a drawing of my ‘enga’ ring and the words “I O U £45”. I gulped and squeaked “I know what this means” and RJ said “yes.....Will you marry me Lindy Dark?” I instantly filled up with tears and said “yes”!!!

After I had composed myself I said, “But why didn’t you do it in Crosby by the beach?” and he said he had the ring box the whole time, it just didn’t seem to be the right time. So I said “But we should be by the sea!” so he said “Lets go to Whitby then!” So at 4pm yesterday we did!
Here is me with the ring box and the fierce sea..

Here is RJ doing a happy dance.

And here is my hair bear RJ.

RJ truly is the most kind and patient beautifulest person I have ever met. I was quite sure I would never meet anyone who was right for me and I still can’t believe that all our odd bits match up so well. I am so so incredibly lucky that he found me. He is quirky in all the right ways and an absolute gentleman, I have never known him once feel sorry for himself (and he has such good reason to), he is the strongest person I know, always happy and full of fun... And when I told him my lovely sister had offered to make the wedding cake he said “Can it be in the shape of an otter?”

I love you so much my precious little RJ
