Easter in the Underground City!

On Saturday, Papa Swarts arrived, and we sped off the Island for some walking and delicious pizza at the Treehouse.  Then we went back over the Sound to check into our super swank hotel, the Hotel Max.  I had my very own room, complete with outstanding king size bed and tons of channels and a luxurious robe in which I lounged the whole time.  It was tres sexy.

This morning we did a little breakfasting at Starbucks, which we both instantly regretted for it's chain-y-ness.  (Even though with Dad's discount, they almost had to pay us for my milk and croissant.)  We spent a bit reading the paper and waiting to see news footage of that cruise ship that went down in Greece (there were kids from Kitsap County on that boat!), and then went off to Pike's.

It was gorgeous today.  I kept having to stop and look out over the Sound. You could actually see the Olympics past Bainbridge.  Dad laughed at how many times I just wanted to look, but he didn't understand - this was super rare.  The sun was shining, and the few clouds in the sky reminded me of Virginia's beautiful spring days.  The fish-throwing place was closed, but the first Starbucks wasn't, nor were all the flower vendors.  After perusing the market, we walked the umpteen million blocks to Pioneer Square to get our tickets for the Underground Tour.  It was, in short, FANTASTIC.  If/when you come to Seattle, go do it.  They have an "Underworld Tour" as well which gives more info on the outrageous prostitution and saloon scene in old-time Seattle, but we went on the normal one.  Our guide referred to the ladies-of-the-night as "seamstresses" and that they formed "sewing circles."  He was pretty funny about it, actually.  And funny in a real world way, not an annoying tour guide way.

After the tour, we went to Owl & Thistle for food and watching the Masters.  I swear Tiger looked like he was going to cry when he drove into the sand trap on 17.  I've never seen him so worked up before.  (And we're close.)

Now I'm home, and I should plan for my week, but I want to go play with people.  And also take a nap, since a very annoying beeping from a local garage kept me up at various hours last night.  We shall see how much I get done.

Next weekend we're off to the coast for a bit of a vacation (and to celebrate Brenda & John's birthdays), and then the two weekends after that are due date madness, but then it's my birthday and Dinner in the Woods, and then Mom comes to visit!  Woo hoo!  :0)

Happy Easter.
xoxo
