Last night was mine and Devon's Oscar Party! I spent two hours yesterday printing, cutting, pasting, and taping quotes onto the walls, for the quote game (Soren won with 45 out of 100). I taped up celebrities from magazines, and Steve, Kati and I rearranged the living room. As I hurriedly slathered pita pieces with a butter/lemon/garlic paste, Steve and Kati put their technical prowess to the test and got the projector going.
At five thirty, guests started to pour in, and everyone took a seat.
Thank goodness for Oscar Bingo, Ballots, and the Movie Quotes Game. Otherwise, we may have all fallen asleep.
Some of the Oscars were fabulous. No surprise, I loved Ellen, and the dancers were super cool. We all got a kick out of the song by Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and John C Reilly, but it seemed as if the fun stopped there. No more fun! Only incredibly long montages! What was that one about America? Did anyone follow the theme of that? And perhaps if we're going to give an honorary Oscar to an Italian man, we should have a translator ready to go, with a copy of his speech, so that poor, old Clint Eastwood doesn't have to stumble along on the teleprompter (especially when he was having trouble with his native English only a few moments before).
But. The party was a success - everyone said it was great, and seemed to be having a fun time. And a few people even stayed and helped clean up, which made my world so much happier. :0)
Back to the real world today - a teaching week, but I'm liaisoning, so no kids for me. Good timing, too; I've got a crap ton of work to do for Friday and I just didn't get it all done this weekend.
Have a good week! xoxo
