i thought losing my cell phone last week was bad.

i walked out of my house this morning at about 9.05am, slightly late as per usual, loaded down with my book bag and some library books plus my NFG CD, which i had rediscovered last night and decided was perfect music for the morning ride to work, to find that my car was not in front of my house where i had parked it yesterday.

it was gone.

i called my mom, which is not such an unrational action as she works in insurance and knows exactly what i should do in situations such as these, and she called to the police for me asking if it had been towed. seriously, the few minutes she was on the line with the police i was praying praying praying it had been towed for some unknown reason, but due to the inexistence of god sky-father did not hear me and it turned out the car was stolen from me.

after my worst fears had been confirmed, i got the needed insurance/car info from my mom and called a rental company (the insurance is going to pay for it) so that i could get myself a car and get moving with the stuff i needed to do like go down to the police station; however, they could only get me a minivan until noon and i was so not interested in a fucking minivan so i decided to wait for noon and walked to the police station under the power of my indignation at the universe. there's a bus, but i wasn't waiting for that fucking mythical creature to show up as it's not actually a far walk, like 20 minutes and i walk that every other day with nash. yet, the cat callers and wolf whistlers in revere made it a very special walk to an already very special day (i'd also like to give a shout out to my mother's racism as she told me that "some spic in chelsea probably has my car and is chopping it up for parts" proving that she doesn't understand that her daughter is a.) not ever comfortable with racism and b.) is fucking not white like you and is in fact a "spic.") as a young woman walking alone during *gasp* the mid-morning in *utter horror* a sundress in 90+ weather is obviously looking for some action... right.

in any case, i took care of the police report and put in my claim. now, i get to wait for the rental company to pick me up and then go to work.

my total losses with that car are:

my umbrella
my re-usable shopping bag
ALL MY FAVORITE CDS
my second pair of sunglasses
my sleeping bag and a few extra blankets
one of my library books
Veronica Mars S1 and S2, not mine
a few books in the trunk
my beach stuff- a badminton set, beach ball, blue string-like float thing

i'm also fighting my tendency to blame myself for everything. i almost never locked my doors esp not in front of my house. i left my keys in there all the time. ever since the week i locked myself out of my house twice in a row, i usually kept a spare key hidden in the car. my bed room window, right where i was until like 3AM reading last night then sleeping until 7.30ish, is right over where my car was parked in front of my house. i know it's not my fault and that this person did something wrong and stole from me.

bitching, rl
