NEW YORK -- Lance Armstrong is considering retiring after he tries for a record seventh straight Tour de France victory this July.
The 33-year-old Austin cyclist said Thursday he's “still thinking about that” and called it “a possibility.”
The comments came at a Central Park appearance to support New York's 2012 Olympic bid.
Armstrong made comments to Italian media last week that he missed his kids and the pressures of keeping his Tour de France string alive was taking a toll on him.
The comments fueled speculation that this year's Tour de France would be his last. Gazetta dello Sport quoted him as saying, “Four more months and it's over.”
His new two-year contract to race for the Discovery Channel team requires he race just one more Tour de France.
