...is people who wish, with glee, for disaster or suffering to come upon people they don't like, while relishing the thought. Not talking about a momentary stab of anger, but active rumination of all the pain you wish the target to live through. For some reason, it is more disturbing to me than, well, just about anything.
Especially if said people happen to be writing columns in a magazine that comes with one of New Zealand's biggest newspapers, and seem to enjoy the idea of Auckland having to suffer through a volcanic eruption and end up in pure humiliation as it has to ask the rest of the country for help.
Now it's okay to dislike Auckland. I can live with that, especially since it's a time honoured tradition among the rest of New Zealand. But disasters should NOT be wished upon ANYBODY, not even politicians, lawyers and second hand car salesmen (let alone on an entire city of 1.something million people). Then again, it's so easy to think of a million people as a statistic.
I was watching a news report of the horrible flooding in China just now. That's probably what inspired this post.
