This is Halloween!

Or it almost is, rather. ^^;

You know, it's funny: generally, I tend to get very excited about Halloween, it's one of my favorite holidays, and I always feel very anticipatory and eager as it draws closer. This year, though, I haven't been feeling that. Of course, lately I've been so very busy with classes and adjusting to campus life that I barely noticed it was October, much less nearly Halloween. And I think it also has to do with growing older, and realizing that yeah, holidays are fun, but they're also just days, like any other day, and I just odn't get so worked up anymore. Meh.

The party today -- or rather, yesterday -- was wildly fun. Nearly all the Seattle crew, plus theladyfeylene freshly arrived from Arizona, gathered at The House for food, fun, and fortune-telling. (Between rivendellrose, shadawyn, theladyfeylene, and myself, we ran the gamut from runes to tarot to palmistry.) There was also, for me, theladyfeylene, ratzeo, and the LJ-less Charlie walking around for quite a while in search of booze and munchables. On that note, Mike's Hard Lemonade was quite tasty, and the one bottle I had didn't seem to affect me negatively at all. Notice, though, how I was careful not to have two.

And the costumes. The costumes were wonderful. coramegan made a splendid Hawkeye, her military uniform is really quite lovely. And awesome boots, even if they were a bit big. rivendellrose made a terrifyingly adorable and hideously frilly Glinda. And then there were the Disworld folks. zinjadu, with her breastplate, utilitarian clothes, sword, and careful making-up courtesy of rivendellrose, made a disturbingly realistic Sam Vimes. (Many of us commented that she looked for natural with facial hair then she did in the leater skirt and busty shirt she wore to the ADP showing last night.) theladyfeylene put a store-bought 'Barbarian Maiden' costume to good use as an excellent Angua-in-full-Uberwaldian-garb getup. And I was Lord Vetinari. It was a bitch to get my hair to stay back, but thanks to awesome makeup, chin-to-toe black clothing, zinjadu's long black coat, and a well-placed Ace Bandage, I think I pulled off the undead flamingo look rather nicely. And once I took out the bobby pins and wore my hair down, I looked like frigging Johnny Depp. Is it sad that in some ways I look better as a man then as a woman? >_>

And of course, who could forget nekokoban as our resident catgirl Wuffles?

And the food. Ah, the food. rivendellrose and I attempted to make sugar skulls, but despite our best efforts, something clearly went wrong, because were left not so much with skulls as with amorphous drippy blobs of sugary goop. Ah well, we tried. And there was pigs-in-a-blanket and pumpkin soup and coramegan's famous rice krispie treats and a cake named Wilbur. Good times, good times.

Feel like I've run out of things to say now. Should get to bed, I have studying to do tomorrow.
