The little weather widget on the Dashboard informs me that we are in for thunderstorms. I strongly doubt it, but I want to believe. ;_; I'm just glad it's finally cooling off, though. 92 degrees is a lot when you're in a 4th floor apartment with no AC and lots of Western exposure. XP
Despite the heat, it's been a very fun (and busy!) weekend! Let's recap.
Friday I didn't have to go in to work because I was able to finish my route on Thursday, so I spent the afternoon with
lunapome instead, having lunch and drawing and playing video games. I've been making progress on the Penny Arcade game ('On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Chapter 1'), and I gotta say, it's a lot of fun. it's written by Tycho, so of course the dialogue is as bizarre and wrong and hilarious as you would expect. And it has one of the most unusual and interesting combat systems I've ever seen in an RPG-style game: it's turned based and yet it isn't, and there's lots to keep your mind engaged and you're definitely penalized for being too slow, and I've never played anything quite like it. Much fun.
In the evening was
casaval's graduation party, where we got to see his baby pictures and meet his relatives and eat huge amounts of delicious Filipino food. Congrats again, dude!
On Saturday, to beat the heat (at least for a little while),
zinjadu,
music_enforcer,
gwydyon and I all went to see WALL•E. I won't go into details here (I'll probably make a longer review post some time later, cos I'm a dork and I want to) but suffice it to say it was awesome and you should all see it. It is quite possibly the sweetest film I have ever seen, and it's full of fun sci-fi injokes to boot. Not to mention it's gorgeous. Go see it. Seriously.
Then
zinjadu and I retreated to my stifling apartment and watched 'Beast Wars' and 'Top Gear' and I played more Tales of the Abyss. Good times, except for the part where I almost melted.
Sunday I got up early, bought some sunscreen, and headed downtown to meet
laylah,
maho_kiwi,
sigelphoenix and
cadence_zero for the Pride parade. I'd never been to the Pride parade in this city, or in any other for that amtter. I have done Bay to Breakers several times, which on the whole has a lot more nudity, drunken revelry and tortillas, and fewer things that make me go "awwwww". We couldn't stay for the whole thing -- it was too hot -- so we retred to Lowell's for lunch and then went our seperate ways.
rivendellrose then came over and we watched the latest episode of Doctor Who (gkdkflkdkjfk;ld:Kfklgnsjfk; pretty much covers it, really). The evening concluded with me hanging out with
zinjadu and
lunapome (more drawing and Top Gear and being slugs), and then coming home to find
nekokoban had returned from the wilds of Victoria. Huzzah! :D
Now, I only hope things go well tomorrow. It would be a shame to punctuate this lovely weekend with a big fat shot of panic. D:
