There's a little black spot on the sun today...

So I'm taking 12 credits this quarter, which isn't really that much -- it's the minimum you can take and be considered a full-time student, I believe. Every quarter so far I've taken 15 (except on one occasion where I took 14 -- daring!), but since I'm aiming to have an internship during the summer I figure I can make up those 3 credits.

As of today, I've had the first session of each of my three classes. Women & Law looks like the workload won't be so bad (only 2 short papers and 2 tests), but it's gonna be extra important that I keep up my reading and that I understand it. Cos most of the time when I try to read legalese my eyes sort of glaze over and my mind wanders and uhhhhh. Don't think that's gonna cut it here. D:

In Gender & Language I think I'll have an easier time with the readings (at least they'll be written in proper English. Well, it'll probably be academic English, but I still say that's better than lawyer-speak.); on the other hand, I had a miniature panic attack when I looked at the workload: 4 4-page papers, a 3-5 page book review, and an 8-10 page research paper -- which I'm sure seems like small potatoes for many of you, but I think it's more writing than I've had to do for an individual 10-week class so far. I admit I'm a little nervous -- but I'm always nervous at the start of a class (when they present me with all the work I have to look forward to and all of a sudden 10 weeks feels MUCH MUCH SHORTER than it really actually is) but I usually still manage to be okay. So, here's hoping. *knocks on wood*

Lastly is the Princess Tutu class which looks to be... interesting. There's about a dozen of us in the class, and we seem to run the gamut from people like me and maho_kiwi and the two students running the class (one of whom is a CFUD-er, though I don't know her journal name) -- that is, people who've seen the anime already and love it -- to people who had never even heard of Princess Tutu and thought this was a history class. -_-a Ah well; either they'll find the show interesting and become engaged with the class, or they won't find it interesting and they'll stop coming. Today we watched the first four episodes; it was fun to see them again, and the dub was actually quite cute. The main characters all sounded pretty well-cast and as far as I could recall the subs the translation seemed spot-on.

Already looks to be an interesting quarter, to say the least.

anime, princess tutu, college, real life
