Miss Scarlet in the new terminal at Singapore Changi Airport
I'm standing in Singapore Changi Airport in the brand spanking new Terminal 3. I arrived yesterday on my way to London for a Stopover Holiday. My hotel was alright - cheap and cheerful. I think I scored a room in the dud half of the building, but I scored two single beds! Very useful for re-packing one's luggage. It was weighed again, and only 23kg this time! I was cursing myself for not bringing my bathers, the hotel had two swimming pools and a spa. Breakfast was delicious. I paid $14 for a buffet with every type of food you can imagine. That was four hours ago and I'm still not hungry!! It wasn't much of a holiday though, considering I arrived at 6pm and had to depart the hotel at 9.30am. Still I managed to have a wander around in order to get some dinner and I checked out the Funan Digitalife mall, walked down to Clarke Quay where I perused the shopping there as well. There were just so many shops in this one complex, it just seemed to never end! Loads of variety in each store as well, for clothing they put out one sample of each garment on the shelves and store the size range out the back. You can ask the staff to get you a larger size.
The new terminal is enormous, very spacious, loads of fabulous designer shops and lovely cafes. It makes Adelaide's new terminal look like a cow shed again! Even the toilets are fancy (automatic flush) It opened today, so there is a jazz band playing downstairs to celebrate. No queues, heaps of staff everywhere - it's been great! I'm having my photo taken by a newspaper reporter as I blog here. Seriously. And I've already been interviewed by a radio station re: my first impressions. Compared with terminal 2 through which I arrived yesterday, it's just great. Terminal 2 had this funny musty smell and daggy carpet, but not Terminal 3! if you thought that was good, check this one out.I think the only reason I'm able to actually use one of these awesome free internet terminals is that it's the first day and nobody else is here!!!
Anyway, I better get off here and work out if the gate B4 that i am standing next to really is the place I have to go. Ooh yes, the queue is moving to board now. Bye!
