Just wanted to let everyone know, I went to the doctor today and we found out Matthew and I are having a little girl!!
We're ecstatic!! Of course we were going to be happy with either a boy or a girl, but we were secretly hoping more for a girl...Haha. :)
We've decided on a name, it'll be Ella Mae. We came up with Ella while we were sipping our starbucks coffee's (Mine was decaf of course...haha) and listening to Jazz in the car, all of a sudden Ella Fitsgerold came on and I said "Ella!" Thankfully Matthew agreed and there's how we got the name! Mae is after his sister. Its her middle name too.
We already know she's a stubborn one. At the first ultrasound she wouldn't open her legs to reveal anything! And the only reason we got a second ultrasound was because she, being stubborn again, wasn't kicking as much! The heartbeat was strong, but she just wasn't moving nearly enough for me. So we went in and...tell you what...I'll just copy and paste the blog I wrote on myspace... :)
So for the last few days little miss Ella had decided to take a break from kicking me all the time. Sure, it was a nice break from the jabs to the ribs, but I got a little paranoid going on the third day without all the action she usually has during the day.
So after talking to my mom I decided to call the office, Matthew waited this morning before going to work in case we needed to go in. I couldn't get an answer on the phone, first it was busy and then after it rang, thats all it did! No one picked up the phone. I decided that we should just go in to the office instead of waiting. I was sure they were going to tell me to come in anyway so we just went. Thank God the Army is super with those of us expecting, so Matthew had no trouble calling in and letting them know he wouldn't be in right away. So off to the hospital we went. We didn't wait too long and they called me back to get vitals etc. Then this Nazi Doctor called me over. First she looks at me, then at my stomach then back up. "Your 27 weeks?" she enquired. "Yeah, why, don't I look it?" I replied. All she said was no. Then she told me to sit back down. So I did.
Then two seconds later she calls me over again, "Did you eat this morning?" I told her the truth, no I hadn't. But she didn't let me finish by saying that the directions on the bottle of prenatal vitamins I take says to chew one tablet and then wait 1-2 hours before eating. I was worried about the baby, so why would I wait 1-2 hours just so I could be sure to eat breakfast before coming in to see if the baby was okay?! Then she goes "How do you expect the baby to move if you don't feed it!" So already I'm a bad mother!!! Geeze! I wanted to hit her so bad! Ugh!
Anyway, the very kind nurse took me back to put a fetal moniter on me. I almost fell asleep! I had to be hooked up for about 20 minutes and the sound of the baby's heartbeat was very soothing...who needs sleeping pills?! Listen to a heartbeat and you'll be good to go. :) Anyway, after that they took us into the ultrasound room. I didn't think they were going to do one, but I sure wasn't going to complain, thats what Matthew and I wanted! They told me it was to check the amneotic fluid, but when were in there I told her if she could check for the sex of the baby that would be great! And thankfully she did!! Because she confirmed what we'd been hoping! A girl its going to be! Little miss Ella Mae! :)
Needless to say I feel much better! They said the baby's fatastc and I have nothing to worry about, and the doctor I saw at the end was so much better than the Nazi doctor. He assured me that I did the right thing coming and and not to worry about asking questions, after all, thats what they're there for! :) But I swear to God, if Nazi doctor is the one I get assigned, I'm getting a new doctor! In no way is that b**ch delivering this baby! I'll deliver it myself before I let her! (I'm not bitter....not at all! :) )
