Yesterday was pretty wild...

May 12, 2004 10:34

Yesterday morning, I woke up and my eyelids were swollen. Mom kept going on about how my eyelids were purple. Note to self: Never sunbathe again, learn to accept pasty whiteness.

On the way uptown, I killed a turtle! On Sand Lake Road. I FELT SO BAD. I tried to straddle it, but I think I hit it. I was gonna pass it, cause I didn't have time to stop, and then pull over and move it out of the road. But now, thinking about it, I don't remember seeing it's little carcass in the road on the way home last night, so maybe I did miss it. I have hope.

I got uptown to where the commercial was being shot. I didn't think I was gonna do much, just help carry equipment, because Pete had a broken foot. But I got to put weird little cotton gloves on and move chocolate covered strawberries and raspberries and blueberries and pretzles and other stuff around on trays for pictures. It was really fun. This lady I knew from the races came in to buy some stuff and was like 'OH! I didn't know you worked here." I'm like, "I don't. I'm with the video guy." lol. Then, this other lady I knew came in. She asked me if I was dating the video guy. I'm like "NO".

Marian Charters, the co-owner of Village Chocolatier, gave us all the candy that we had used in the shoot. It wasn't like she could sell it now or anything, but it rocked. There was so much stuff. I think that the chocolate covered raspberries are my favorite. I shared them with Monica and her mom and I realized later that it was lame, cause then I didn't have any! But that was ok. I can get more some other time. They are so good. It's kinda indescribable.

After that, I left to go to Monica's house. I got there and we decided to walk down to Kelly's party store and get ice cream. It was like, a 4 mile walk, round trip. She got a black cherry waffle cone and I got a chocolate chip cookie dough one. Those are the bestest. We started to walk back, after the sun went behind clouds, into the wind, with ice cream. We passed where Monica's dad works and he just so happened to be leaving, so we hitched a ride with him for the last mile and a half.

We then hung out at Monica's house for a bit. She gave me this rockin t-shirt that she got in Peru. She said it was too big for her and that she had two anyway. It's grey and it says "Tome Inca Kola, la bebida del Peru" which means, "Drink Inca Cola, the beverage of Peru". That slogan is trademarked, by the way. lol.

We looked through some of Monica's pictures and made fun of how stupid we all used to look ;). But we really ragged on Barb. She has gotten increasingly better looking in recent years. Monica too. There weren't any pictures of me. YAY.

After that, we went through Matt's room and looked at some of his stuff. We were REALLY bored. We layed on his underfilled waterbed, which was pretty weird and looked at his records. Well, I did. Matt is my hero. Among his things, we found: A decorative bottle filled with broken guitar strings, a cream colored Squire (which he never plays anymore) stacks and stacks of records (including the Miami Vice soundtrack) bowling shoes (size ten) and a Steak N Shake menu, used as a folder for college papers. I keep insisting that Matt needs to meet Nick.

Then, we went to a movie with Pete. We saw The Whole Ten Yards and it rocked waffles. Bruce Willis is gonna get an Emmy nomination for that role. It was really great. There were no dull parts, lots of great one liners, the entire movie made sense and there were no weak parts. Well, except MAYBE (I could definitely be wrong) but I think that Matthew Perry was driving a Camero and he called it a Porsche. Matthew Perry was really funny too but I have a hard time believing that anyone could be that stupid...well, maybe not...

After that, I dropped Monica off and hung with Pete for awhile. He burned me Talkie Walkie by AIR, Radiohead's Hail to the Thief and Loved by the Cranes. While I was finishing the CDs. Karen came in and started asking me about God and religious stuff. That was really cool. I hope I gave decent answers to her questions. Answers that God would want me to give. She said she might come to church sometime...though it would be hard, cause she has baby Knight church starts at 9:30 am and she lives like, 20 min away...eh, she's tough. But we talked for almost an hour and that was really cool. I didn't get to watch the Real World, but it was worth it to miss it. It was a bonding time for us. Not a bad thing, considering we'll be working together all summer. We later mutually expressed our displeasure about how terrible and gross the one foot commercial is when the little germ or bacteria or whatever lifts up the toenail like a car hood. We both stood there for like five minutes writhing and shaking and the sheer grossness of that commercial. It was fun.

Pete and I had a good time talking to. Usually, the tv is on when we talk, but we talked for like 45 minutes...just us. We then watched the Simpsons. Things are really different from how they were, which is good. Praise the Lord! Pete also gave me this little pin with a teddy bear giving the middle finger. I don't know where to put it. Something tells me my mother won't like it.

I came home and talked with Nick for a bit. Then decided that since all I had eaten yesterday had been macaroni at lunch and an ice cream cone, that I ought to eat. Plus, we had spaghetti for dinner...so there were leftovers. I ate a lot of spaghetti and watched part of UHF, cause it was on tv. That would be a very good movie to invest in. I haven't seen it in a long time. I remember this one time when I was about 8, my parents let Derek and I both rent a video. I got this dumb movie called "Stay Tuned". I remember I got it, because Pam Dawber was in it and I liked her, because she played the Little Mermaid in some cheap adaptation video that I rented at the library. Derek got UHF. I'm sure it's recorded around here somewhere. But it's always way better to have the DVD.

I spoke to Nick more after that. I guess I'm gonna go down there and spend the night tonight, if my parents don't freak, which they shouldn't, as long as I am productive today, which I need to go and do. It's gonna be weird spending the night with Nick, considering I've never even been at his house. Maybe Josh will hang with us, that would be cool. I'm sure we can find something fun and interesting to do. I mean, it's Nick and Josh...

I slept like a rock last night and woke up this morning less burnt. My eyelids are no longer purple, but my skin is now in the itching phase...I wish I was a goddess and instead of the guys that fan me with palm fronds, I would have the guys scratch my sunburn...

This is a super long post...but I had a lot to tell, cause I had a lot to remember. I hope I have fun at Nick's. I hope I can FIND Nick's...
