Today, I received a request from an app via a friend on Facebook. The app was My Calendar - Birthdays.
I'm fairly selective and very privacy minded. I'll only friend people I actually know in real life (or have a very good emotional tie with) and who I want to share my Life with, even though the miles may separate us. People who'd I'd wish a Happy Birthday to without a little nigglely e-mail in my inbox. In the event that I was totally unaware of their birthday, Facebook automatically informs your friends that your birthday is approaching, unless you specifically tick the box to NOT share your birthday. If my friends don't want to be reminded of their birthdays by not reminding me that their birthday is coming up, as a friend, I will respect their privacy.
And there goes My Calendar - Birthdays to screw around with it by being pushing and asking you to add your friends to your birthday calendar with a request that you send.
I go to the the app's page at my friend's beheast (although I DID NOT tick off the privacy box on my Facebook profile page) and I'm told that 66 of my friends' birthdays are missing from My Calendar. I skip the request page (see above) and move onto what my friend is requesting. Apparently, My Calendar - Birthday is branching out into My Calendar - Anniversary. My friend wants to be able to remind me and send well wishes on the anniversary of whatever I chose to share with the world.
Okay. I'm sharing here.
Which anniversary? My first marriage? My second marriage? My first divorce? My second divorce? The date I first realized my SoulMate was in my life? The date(s) we 'broke-up' because of our fears? The date(s) we got 'back-together' because we are SoulMates? The date I became a mother? The date I found out that my husband (either one) was cheating on me?
The anniversary of what? See, anniversaries aren't meant to be for the world; to anyone else, it's just a date. However, to you and the person you share it with, it's something special.
So, no, my friend, if you do not share a special date in our history, then I will not share with you the special dates in my history that are special to me for my own reasons. Don't take offense, rather let's create our own anniversary for something special.
life,
