as i watch the water
reaching
creeping closer to my castle

i feel it touch my toes
the wet
the cold

the softness of sand
sliding out from underneath
creeping in between

i can't help but smile

as i watch the water
reach into my fortress

as i watch my fortress
retreat with the tide
