Roadtrips, Free Cocktails and Beds
With all the sponteneity and impulsiveness that I dont possess.. I decided to drive down to Canberra on Saturday to fritter away my weekend with Nick and Till! Its been just over a year since I've travelled to the Nations Capital.. and obviously I've forgotten that its probably the most ridiculous time of year to go. I was probably influenced into thinking it would be alright seeing as Tash and I had a glorious sunny morning in Kings Cross having breakfast at Tryst and then walking around the little markets they had going on.
I'd hit Goulburn and the car said the temperature outside was 4 degrees. ARGH! And then at the Federal Hwy turn off, thats when it started raining and I was experiencing these split second aquaplaning moments where the little orange signal saying the ABS brakes wont work would come on. SCARY! I made it at my ETA time!
We swapped baked goods (me with the brownies.. N&T with their magical cupcakes) and Till had cooked a spag bol. We then accompanied Nick to Academy where he had to play for 4 hours (!), so Till + I sneaked into the "Ladies Lounge" and got free cocktails and we admittedly got a bit bitchy about the other ladies. But they were givin us eeevils! We also went for a walk over to Toast where Ug Beats 5th Birthday was going down, so I went to say hi to some peeps, who were all pretty shocked to see me there. We went back to Academy to save Nick (and watched all these people getting it on on the dancefloor and big groups of boys dancing like apes) and he was playing at Ug Beats after so I went with him and Till went home. Talk to some more people, laughed at some dancing and waited for cabs outside of the casino.
On Sunday we were rushed (thanks NICK) to a place called 'A Bite To Eat, A Drink As Well' in Chifley (i have never been there before!) where we had some breakfast. Nick had the 'Greedy Guts' and it had hot chips on there! Haha! Then we drove past the new apartment:
And I saw the new mall at Civic. Like, woah. Its quite the monstrosity! They have Hugo Boss? Like what? Hah! Its definately much better with being limited back in the day with Belconnen, stocks and a the diminishing General Pants (it just didnt take on down there?). Soo many new apartments going up around Civic climbing up Northbourne Ave. Its becoming a bit of a high-rise tunnel! Worse with all the native eucalypt street planting.. its so dark and shadowy. But I'm getting all work-talk again.. I think I confused N&T a couple of times with it!
