Rock Concerts, DeeJays and Babies

Nicass had a George this morning at 925am!

------

That was my view for the concert on Friday.. compared to the previous photo from the Telstra Stadium website.
We went in straight from work.. stocked up on hot chips, hot dogs and beverages and Kanye West started just as we'd sat down. Pretty good show (short, only about 40mins), not nearly as good as his sideshow from earlier in the year, but thats what you get when the majority arent there to see you play. Plus it was still day-light (just after 7pm) and the sound was crap.

U2 came on just after 830pm.. and just when it started to rain. So we stood there for Vertigo, Elevation and Beautiful Day with big fat drops falling on us. Luckily we got to enjoy the rest of the show without the rain. I can't really recall what they played (they all sound the same after a while), although for not being a "fan", I knew quite a few of them.. New Years Day, Where The Streets Have No Name. With or Without You, Angel of Harlem, Sunday Bloody Sunday, One, Walk On, Miss Sarajevo, The Saints Are Coming, In The Name of Love.. obviously heaps more as they played a 2+hour show, which included not one, but TWO encores (each with about 3 songs).

I didn't even consider going, but I can see why people would do it (pay for it, sleep out for nights to get tickets etc). It was an entertaining show.. they're really made to play massive stadiums like that and the whole vibe of 75,000 people singing and swaying. And Nick dancing in the aisles with bogans. Definately worth the experience.

Getting out of there wasnt too much trouble as I took the back routes, and made it into the city in 45mins with a detour to drop Jess off at Newtown and Anika + Nick at Wynyard... to go see A-Trak doin thangs down at The Basement. Dayna, Andy and Diana were already there.. saw Ben (Huw's housemate) and Shantan, Sue and Ronya. The RoShamBo boys were kicking things off and A-Trak came on around 1am, first with a display of some scratchin' and jugglin' and trick shit (what the man can do with a JT track. WOW!) and then got into the fun stuff. Man it was fun. We bounced through crunk, bmore, electro (whipping out heaps of Chromeo because, y'know, Dave1 is his brother), indie (like Franz and NYPC) and some retro shit ("..and Betty you can call me you can caaaaall meeee Aaaaaaaal.."). Trusting Dayna will write more about the technical Serato stuff in the iUTDWMD blog. (She's in love. Haha!) Best dance-offs ever. Walked out of there about 3am.
