sake!
school went alright, went to my first anthro class on manga, and we watched astro boy and discussed in anthro terms. hehe. afterwards i hung out with some peoples at school then headed home around 5:00PM or so. ate a yummy dinner (small thankfully cause i was full from lunch's mcdonalds) then went back to school to meet up with megan, amy, and jess. we got ready at school and took a taxi to the club in roppongi for the school sake event.
we checked in and once we got in a shamisen player was playing away, hes a professional and hes really awesome. we each got a card that numbers 1-7 on it, when you tried one of the 7 bottles of sake, it was checked off of your card. sake is pretty strong and 7 was extreme. i loved watching my friend nicholas's face when he drank it hehe! then a group of japanese temple students performed a dance for us, it was really cool! then some people rapped - which sounded different than the US, it was different and cool. then later the lights were totally turned off and the giant screen on the wall started to play a video of a random guy painting something really fast, like fast forwarded. there was a an american guy who gave a lecture about sake, he really knows his stuff. he writes columns for papers in the US and japan.
i tried all 7 sake, sake is ok but its a tad bit strong. (almost like a shot) the whole night was a lot of fun, hanging out with friends and meeting new people. very very cool! it was a great way to relax after the first week of school. we did some dancing towards the end of the night, it was mainly weird dances within a circle that we made, etc. hehe! later the whole group left to go to another club, the closest and nicest one is called 'vanilla', but we couldnt get in.. no jeans or shorts allowed. whatever. so a bunch of people went to someones dorm to hang out. it was getting late (12:00AM) at this point, and i didnt want to miss the last subway train for home, so i left and went home and went to bed.
tonight rocked! :) lots of fun and lots of pics taken!
