Kabuto had been out in the city for the most part, as he didn't seem to dwell in his home for too long. He was not too far from his home, however, holding a conversation over a pay phone--mostly about the sort of things one wouldn't want to have over a cellular phone. Well, as best he could, since someone was standing nearby eagerly awaiting for him to finish his conversation. He'd hoped the generous amount of cologne he applied to himself that morning would keep others at a distance, but it seemed the effect had worn off just a bit. He shot a glare at this person, and turned around. What a pain.
-
Orochimaru picked up the line and put the call on speaker phone. He was expecting the call and knew immediately who it was. "Hello my little Ka-bu-to. How was your trip?" He enjoyed putting emphasis on the name he had given the young man, it was far from his own but Orochi enjoyed referring to people by names of his choosing. If not for Orochi's love for games he would be having this sort of conversation involving business in his private office, but there was always the chance of being followed or listened in on by those curious of his dealings and affairs.
-
Such a shame, he couldn't speak in the mother tongue. Then again, with his luck, this onlooker spoke the language too. Kabuto took a look over his shoulder. Damn, the guy was still there.
"Not as enjoyable as I lead people to believe," He finally admitted.
-
Orochi smiled, he had taken in quite a capable liar. He just hoped it would never bite him in the ass. "Of course, vacations are hardly ever as fun as we hope. I hope you managed to take care of any business you might have had in the area. Oh and that you didn't forget anything there. I really hate it when I forgot something of importance on a trip. I feel like beating myself up over it. I'm sure you feel the same." Orochi hoped his student understood the consequences of any ineptitude on his side. Orochi staked a lot on this "trip" and wouldn't tolerate failure, even if it was Kabuto's.
-
Kabuto nodded slightly and checked again. That man from before had finally left. Good. He heaved an audible sigh as he finally owned up to what happened. "There were complications."
-
The smile quickly faded from Orochi's face. "No, miscarriage in a pregnant woman is a complication. You had simple objectives, failure to do so is a failure." Orochi sighed and rubbed his temples. He expected more of the boy, but he expects a lot from everyone. "What exactly happened?"
-
"One of the packages," Kabuto referred to each truck as such, which was four in total. "Only made so far past the border." He shrugged and leaned against the payphone slightly. "I'll explain further next time I see you in person."
-
Orochi slammed his fist on the table, with even one missing he would be short. He was a man who never welshed on a deal and this would be like breaking his word. "No, explain now. How could you let such incompetence occur? I assumed you were more capable then that." He knew it wasn't really Kabuto's fault, but he needed someone to blame, and if need be to replace the now missing "package". Even if they had to replace it by substituting themselves.
-
Kabuto frowned and took a few quick glances around at his surroundings. Not a soul around. He felt free to speak. "The truck it was on stalled and the package spoiled." Quite literally.
-
Another sigh left Orochi, he felt almost disheartened. "The most precious of fruit goes rancid the quickest, that can not be helped." He tapped long pale fingers on the table, thinking quickly. He counted the number of "produce" that already arrived and were accounted for. "The delivery wasn't completely lost, enough made it through to almost complete the order." Orochi was thankful he liked to order extra on his runs. "I still believe we will be one short of our quota, even with the product you picked up on the way." Orochi's eyes narrowed to be almost as thin as slits, "Now I have a plan for filling that quota, that is unless you prefer I take it out of your pay?"
-
Damn. Such a shame he let that kid from before run off. "There shouldn't be a need to deduct my pay, Orochimaru." Surely, he could find another way to fill that quota.
-
Orochi thought, he needed a body and a way to obtain them in a manner where no one would know what is going on or question a missing.... Orochi's smile turned into a grin, he recalled his party. "There might be hope to keep your pay-grade yet. I'm having my typical halloween party soon. I'm going to need you to take care of purchasing enough product during the event." This could work, but now more planning needed to be done.
-
Kabuto corrected his glasses and took a glance at his watch. He was already planning his time out. "Understood," which was simply uttered in response.
-
Orochi leaned back and crossed his delicate fingers, interlacing them. The pose made him look more confident and more dangerous. "I knew you would. to make your job easier and prevent any further... complications, I plan on having Karin assist you. That isn't up to debate, she will be informed shortly." Orochimaru leaned toward his desk, hand hovering over the phone. "I believe we have nothing further to discuss at the moment, you know what to do." He hung up without saying another word, goodbyes were useless.
-
Kabuto moved to hang up the receiver. He scowled slightly and stood up straight. Karin? Who was that? His memory didn't bring up any particular face. Whoever this Karin was, he wasn't going to like working with her. Just a gut instinct.
