Momo took the little bag with a grin. "I'm not sure I'm very good to have treats for him either. Kankuro says I just can't give him treats for just being cute." She laughed. It really was a bad idea for her to do that. She just couldn't help it. He was such a cute little puppy. "He takes care of the 'guard dog' parts of the training, but I had to take care of house training him since I was home more and I taught him to sit and come."
Picasso circled Momo's legs before turning his attention to Sango. He instantly became focused on sniffing her legs. "I guess he smells Kirara? He's always looking for new playmates. We'll have to see if they get along sometime." She knelt down so that she was closer to Picasso's level. "Hey, Picasso, Sango brought you some treats-" she paused to shake the bag, "-do you want one?" He turned back towards Momo eagerly and jumped up, putting his front paws on her. "Ah, ah, ah. Sit and you can get a treat." The puppy plopped down on the floor and looked up at her expectantly. She reached into the bag and gave him one of the treats.
She looked over at Sango before motioning for her to follow her to the couch. "So, how have you been? Both of us a playing house, it seems, hm?"
Sango smiled, leaning down to scratch him behind the ear. "I think that Kirara might like him," she said. "She's friendly. She likes most everyone, if they're nice." She stood, brushing her shorts off lightly as she watched Momo feed him a treat. "He'd trained pretty well already," she said, her tone admiring. What a good dog!
She followed Momo to the couch and sat down on one end, crossing her legs. "I'm doing okay," she said, then blushed just a little bit. "Yeah, I suppose we are." Playing house, huh? She guessed that was what she was doing. She was living a very... ordinary life, or as ordinary as it could get when you were a bodyguard. But she went home every day, sat down to dinner at the table, then watched a movie or played a video game and went to bed with James. They were practically married, weren't they? It was normal - stable. That was what she'd wanted, wasn't she? A normal life, with a family.
Momo nodded and motioned for Picasso to go off and lay on his bed. He did so, but he still watched them as they moved over to the couch. "I think so, too. He's such a good dog, but Kankuro says that he acts like a baby and that he can't possibly protect me yet." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Of course, he is a baby, still. Kankuro just doesn't seem to get it."
She watched Sango as she spoke. "I get to play the perfect little housewife... You know, making dinner for him every night and taking care of pretty much anything else. Even though I have a rather demanding job." A tiny smile crossed her lips. "I really do love living with Kankuro. Though, I sometimes wonder if it's, like, a plateau in our relationship. I can't get him to budge on the marriage and kids thing."
Sango smiled at the cute little dog, then looked back at Momo curiously. "Really?" she asked, thinking back to the short conversation she'd had with Kankuro in his journal. "It sounds nice... But almost as if you're living that life like you are married, even if you're not." She looked down at her hands, studying them absently. "You're still young, you have time... But I guess, I mean, if you're already practically there, you should want to marry that person." Right? She looked up at Momo, almost as if she was asking more for herself than about Kankuro. It was strange, but the conversation had had her thinking about her own relationship ever since.
Momo nodded. "I just don't understand why he's so afraid of getting married when life isn't going to be much different if we do. I feel like he's being irrational. It's so frustrating." She looked at Sango curiously. She was the observant type and the parallels between her relationship with Kankuro and Sango's own relationship hadn't passed her by. She sighed softly and her shoulders dropped. "I know we're young, but sometimes- especially when we take care of his niece- I just want to start a family with him so badly and I start feeling so impatient."
Sango covered her mouth and took a moment to think about that. "I know. It does seem irrational, doesn't it? And I know what you mean about wanting a family..." She'd even thought it was strange that Kankuro didn't want to get married to Momo if that's what their life was already and if he loved her, but the more she thought about it, the more she understood. "It's a big step. I'm not sure if you can really explain it logically." She rubbed her hands thoughtfully, shrugging. "I mean, it's clear he wants to stay with you. Nobody changes like he has for someone who doesn't matter to them, and nobody really gets a place with someone expecting to leave them. But it's still a big step. Maybe it's too real, too... final?"
Picasso circled Momo's legs before turning his attention to Sango. He instantly became focused on sniffing her legs. "I guess he smells Kirara? He's always looking for new playmates.
