There had been so many things wrong with his asking Winry for a date quite as soon as he had. In reality, though, Izuru found that he didn't actually care so much about the rules and norms of dating. He wanted to start seeing her again, and he had too much going on with his life to just play games and pretend that he didn't want to. He could have given her the chance to settle in... probably should have, really. But he was willing to help her as he could at the hospital, and he had missed her more than he'd been willing to say over the last four years.
He had been trying to finish in the kitchen when she arrived. He knew well that she would want to help and... well. That had never turned out well before, and it wasn't likely to change now, either. With a quick look around the kitchen to make sure nothing was going to catch aflame while he stepped out, Izuru headed to the front door. This seemed to be a common enough thing, and he stepped aside to let her in. It was almost like before. Almost, except they were older, wiser... though he certainly didn't feel either of those things at the moment. "Winry," he started, and felt anything he would have said just fall apart in his book. He was just going to have to wing it from here.
