The day had been long. A long afternoon that began when Momo called him for comfort in the aftermath of her breakup with Kankuro had stretched into an even longer evening. Izuru had put on a strong front for his best friend and been there for her, comforting her when she needed it, and generally just allowing her to grieve in her own way, safe in the knowledge that she wasn't alone. When the shock of the news Momo delivered to him had faded away, it left a welling bubble of anger at Kankuro for hurting Momo so completely; for breaking her trust and doing exactly what everyone had feared he would do for so long. For now, though, Kankuro was still in Arizona and out of his reach. For now, he could focus on Momo and helping herself pull back together

Hearing a knocking noise that almost immediately woke her up, Winry nearly fell off of the couch. With a little whine, she reached for her phone on the coffee table. "What time is it?" she mumbled. She pressed a button on her phone and blinking at the bright light suddenly shining at her face, managed to see that it was a little past 11pm. Looking at the television, she whined again. The movie had apparently just finished. The credits were already rolling up the screen. She grabbed the remote and stopped the DVD from playing as she sat up on the couch. She ran a hand through her hair before standing up and walking over to the light switch. Wincing at the additional light, she slowly made her way to the door

Izuru shrugged helplessly at her teasing question. "I'm sorry," he offered quietly, and followed her into the apartment. When the door was closed behind them, he felt a bubble of amusement at the idea of her neighbors whispering secrets about them. Ah, well. If they couldn't handle a man coming to visit from time to time... even if said man was visiting in the middle of the night. He turned to look at her, stopped near by the entrance. "Momo didn't get to sleep until now," he explained without removing his hands from his pockets. "It's been a bit of a rough day and..." He looked her over with a faint but glad smile. "I felt bad for not being able to see you

Winry watched him as he walked into her apartment. "Don't worry about it." It could have been a response to his apology after her teasing or to his concerns about not seeing her, both were things he had no reason to apologize for. "It's perfectly fine," she said as she followed him. "You're a very good friend, you know. Momo's lucky to have you there for her." Sighing, she tried fixing her hair again but was more or less unsuccessful. Hopefully it didn't look bad. "I can't even imagine how badly she feels."
Coming up behind him, she gently pushed him towards the couch before hurrying past him to grab her blanket and fold it up. "I wasn't really asleep." She motioned towards the television. "I had been watching a movie, but my body apparently needed a little nap. But I'm fine now, I'm awake. Sure, my hair's a little messy, but other than that..." She motioned to the couch, grinning and a little embarrassed at her rambling, "Come on, sit." Still standing, she looked as if she wasn't sure if she should sit down with him or not. "Do you

Izuru shrugged off the discussion of Momo. He couldn't imagine leaving her to this alone, and so he was there for her. It was no more complicated than that, and he followed her nudge toward the couch, watching as she tidied up with an amused sort of appreciative smile. "It's fine," he told her gently and paused before sitting down to brush a hand over her back. "And I'm fine. I just came to see you."
He lowered down to the couch and gestured to the rest of the expanse for her. "You look...," he paused a moment, but not in an awkward way. He just looked her over again. "You look very nice," he finished quietly and gestured toward the TV and her abandoned movie. "I take it the movie wasn't very good?" He asked, reaching for conversation when all he wanted was to just be in her company. It was a completely different vibe than there was when he was around Momo, and not only because of the breakup. It was nice just being there.
Winry gave a little smile at the light touch of his hand on her back. "All right..." Glancing at him, she guessed that that was how their relationship had changed. They were friends and, before their date, something like that would have been weird or at least brushed off as unintentional. Now that they were...something more than friends, perhaps, it was different. It was okay for them to want to touch each other. At least these innocent little touches, she reminded herself as she began blushing lightly.
Trying to distract herself from such thoughts, she sat down beside him. She chose a spot somewhat close to where he was despite the fact that there was quite a bit of space open on the couch. The blush remained on her face, however, as he complimented her. "Thanks," she murmured as she pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. "Ah, you do too," she added quickly as she eyed him. She relaxed back against the couch and turned her attention back to the television. "It wasn't bad... at least, I don't think it was. I feel asleep before it
