In a way he'd probably already blown this. He could get stood up, hell he'd done it numerous times... )
Her faith in this 'date' was rather shaky, but still she got on the bus and headed there all the same. The bus ride itself wasn't long or anything, but there was an old woman who insisted on chatting Hinata's ear off the entire trip. Sighing in relief when she saw the sushi bar, she got off the bus and looked for Kankuro.

In the technical term it was a date, in the literal sense it was just having dinner. He hadn't been entirely bad, and did have some extra cash from his paycheck that he hadn't blown. He wouldn't make her buy his dinner this time.

Approaching, she smiled slightly as she waved. "Um, hi. I..Is this the place?" 'And can we perhaps get this over with? She fiddled with the zipper to her jacket, hoping she didn't see anyone she knew in there.

The kid at the window noticed Hinata and regressed to kissy faces up against the glass. With a twitch to his lip, Kankuro plastered his hand to the glass in attempt to cover up the kid's ridiculousness and piss him off in the process.
"I got bored," he stated honestly with a huff.

She made it a point to try and think of something nice to say to make this situation less awkward. "Um, y..you look nice, and um, I've never eaten here."
She sighed inwardly, pleased at thinking of something to say. "I..is it good?"
Reply
"There is no question. You will enjoy it."
Reply
"Um, that's good to hear. It's been a while since I've had sushi."

"What's your favorite?" he said with daring eyes and an eyebrow lift as they waited to be seated. Did she secretly dig spicy and out of control?

"I..um, I like tuna tatake, and various types of sashimi. And you?" She did enjoy her food to have a bit of spice, but most Hyuuga did.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to grope you under the table or anything,"he said quietly opening up the menu and browsing around. "I only save that for special occasions." He wanted to lighten the mood, but he just kept coming out with those smartass comments. It was hard to tone down, it almost felt like he was trying to be someone he wasn't if he did.
When she seemed none to amused he frowned. "Just kidding..." he replied in that softer voice. "See anything you like?" He was trying at least.

"Um, look. I agreed to this because I feel everyone deserved a second um, chance. That, and you seemed quite persistent." She glanced through the menu, trying to keep the exchange pleasant. "Y..you don't have to impress me, or anything like that. Just um, treat me with respect, and not...not like I'm some object. It's rather upsetting." She took a deep breath, wishing she were anywhere else for a moment.
"And to your question, yes. I do see something I like." She finally smiled, glancing around. "This is a nice restaurant."

"It's a little on the fancy end," he said with a glance around. "Reminds me of those stuffy dinners with my father."
Reply
"I'm used to those, the Hyuuga family always has stuffy and overwrought um, meals. There's no such thing as a casual Hyuuga meal."

"My old man was a dictator on how food was cooked and how you had to eat it. Properly." He hadn't talked much about him since he died, and in a strange way this was somehow the remembrance. Kankuro didn't grieve his death, but here recently he was being reminded of his father more and more. He didn't know whether to be irritated or not. There was a definite bite to his tongue when he was mentioned, but he wasn't quite as sour over it as he tried to hold up inside.

"My father has a staff of chefs for different occasions and it was always a game to see what strange food form someplace we've never heard if we'd have to be stuck um, eating." Hinata held no hard feelings towards her father, but sometimes wished he wasn't so involved in her life.
