Sasuke: It was dark outside, but it had been earlier, too. It was dark inside as well, but after everything that happened, Sasuke didn't want to sit in a room flooded with light. He kept his eyes closed, his knees drawn to his chest, and his face pressed between his legs. His arms were wrapped around his head. Like this it was easier to block out sights and sounds. Like this it was easier to forget what he'd done.

Unfortunately he could still smell hot lead and blood. The scent clung to him, sharp and visceral. His ears were still ringing, and while it had to be impossible, he thought if he moved he would fall apart...

So he had been there, on the sofa in Karasu's living room, for a little over two or three hours. He'd stopped turning his head to look at the clock after the first five minutes of being there. He didn't want to know what time it was. He didn't want to know anything. He hurt everywhere... and because of him, Itachi was in the hospital, quite possibly on the verge of death.

Karasu: Karasu had spent an extended amount of time out that evening. He'd enjoyed taking in the sights, such as they were, and doing some shopping for himself, including the purchase of a heavier winter coat in a downtown store.

But shopping and spending time alone outside of his domicile was only amusing for so long before all of the people he studied bled together and none could be discerned from the next. It was...quite troublesome, but Karasu persevered.

He knew something was different the moment he slipped into the apartment. The lights were still off, but there was a tense aura that was far too new to belong to the stressed man. He dropped his purchases on an end table Sasuke had long ago purchased to stay in the hallway near the door. Onwards he stalked, silently making his way to the living room.

Immediately he knew who it was as his eyes roamed over the huddled figure on his couch, and his eyes narrowed, a small smile quirking his lips. Keen interest filled those cold violet eyes as he sauntered closer, whispering softly in a voice that gave neither kindness nor cruelty.

"Sasuke..."

Sasuke: Of course the other didn't look up right away, not even as Karasu had said his name. He seemed reluctant to acknowledge the sounds around him, his arms tightening about his head, blocking his ears. However, after a few more moments he relaxed, but only just a little.

His head tilted enough so that his eyes could peer over the top of his forearms. They were bloodshot, but not from tears. Stress, more than likely the cause - either that or he'd been pressing them so hard into his arms that they were sore. He looked at Karasu almost as though he didn't recognize him at first, and then he lowered his head once more, dark and wild hair obscurring his face as he burried it in his arms.

"I... I need help," he muttered quietly. It had to be quiet. He knew if he raised his voice he'd start screaming and he might not stop. Not for a long time. "Karasu... I did something... something really bad."

Karasu: Ah. So the plot was thickening before his very eyes. With a curious tilt to his head he wandered closer to the other, pale hand reaching out to brush through Sasuke's hair in a familiar, owning fashion. As if he were petting a favored kitten, and not a human. Painted lips drew back as he folded, settling himself on the edge of his seat.

He couldn't admit to the bundle of emotions he was at this predicament. Pride to be above Sasuke at the moment, concern for the human pet he'd come to adore...in his own way. Even fear for whatever had happened to the other man to bring such a proud soul to his knees in fright.

"Come here..." he instructed quietly, still stroking his hair lazily.

"Come here and tell me all...about it..."

Sasuke: Of course Sasuke shrank back at being touched, and he unfolded just enough so that he could glare at Karasu accusingly. Not that any of this was the other man's fault, but Sasuke had never much cared for being made to feel weak, especially when he had already been knocked down pretty far, and of his own doing, no less.

"I shot someone," he whispered hoarsely. "I... I shot... my brother."

It had seemed so easy to say at first. He thought that the little bit of anger Karasu provided him with would be enough of a brace to allow him to come to terms with what he'd done, but instead it had the opposite effect. Hearing himself admit to the crime was even worse than having committed it.

"...I don't know if he's alive," he said, slight panic beginning to enter those eyes, and his voice. "He... he was bleeding a lot. He wasn't moving. I called an ambulance, but I don't even know if they made it in time...!"

Karasu: The glare meant that Sasuke was fighting his fear, if temporarily. Karasu nodded slowly to show his approval at the action, long arms capturing the other, dragging him closer slowly, almost in a protective fashion.

"Hush. You're dangerously close to panicking." he instructed quietly, eyes locking on Sasuke's, attempting to hold the gaze for as long as possible. Either he had to get Sasuke to open up...or simply dominate him until he could reassert himself. It didn't matter to Karasu which. His night had just gotten a great deal better either way.

"So..." he mused. "Itachi has been shot. The ambulances here are quite good at distress calls...I am sure he was picked up with relative ease...but where precisely did you shoot him...?" he added, leaning closer. This was valuable information, and if he was right, Karasu was going to have to leave very soon.

Sasuke: Karasu was stronger than he looked; Sasuke always seemed to forget that. Minimal struggling wasn't enough to free himself from the other's arms, and not wanting to expend himself fully, Sasuke allowed Karasu to hold him, to coo.

His fingers knotted into his own shirt and he clenched his eyes shut again. "I... I was at his office. It wasn't supposed to happen like this..."

Remembering everything was not something he wanted to do, and he shook his head in protest. "The... the chest. The bullet hit him in the chest. I don't know how close to his heart, but... the chest." There were a lot of things that could be pierced in the chest... and if Itachi did live, he would need extensive surgery, no doubt.

With a somewhat shaky hand Sasuke pointed towards the table where a bag sat containing an object that looked somewhat heavy. Within was a revolver and some bullets - the two that he'd taken out of the gun. Within the barrel there were only three bullets left. One was obviously lodged deep in Itachi's chest cavity... at the hospital.

Karasu: Karasu continued to hold him so gingerly, so possessively, stroking his hair as he listened to what he had to say, nodding now and then. Well, he wouldn't say he wouldn't peg Sasuke as the type...but it was definitely a surprise all the same.

"So you had the sense to bring the weapon..." and he gingerly extricated himself, moving forward, pulling on a pair of gloves that had taken up residence in his coat pocket. Fine leather now encased his hands, and he carefully slipped his hand into the bag, removing the gun, stroking it once, briefly as he studied it.

"I should be able to...dismantle it with little trouble..." he murmured, more to himself, but still audible to Sasuke.

Sasuke: This did strike Sasuke as strange, but Karasu had always been good with his hands, so it wasn't that strange. He watched the other man as he examined the gun, speaking gently, if distantly. He didn't know exactly what to make of it other than the fact it appeared as though Karasu was going to be willing to help him.

He felt... a flood of relief swell up inside of him. But not enough. There was still too much evidence pointing in his direction. There wasn't any other suspects to throw into the equation. If he'd learned anything while he'd been working with the S.F.P.D. it was that eventually... the truth always came out.

After all, they'd found out about Cissnei. Envy had been temporarily caught for one of the many crimes he'd committed. There were others, too, that were destructive that had faced penalties... and if Itachi died, Sasuke's would be life in prison.

"...they'll know it was me," Sasuke whispered. "The other bullet. The hospital... it's too late now. I'm screwed..."

Karasu: "Not necessarily." he said, turning to face him, those violet eyes warm, almost pleased at this new challenge. The gun was set back in the bag for the moment, to be played with later.

"I will take care of that...when I return. Do not move from this home until I return." he instructed, his voice holding a rare clip of authority that demanded he be obeyed, and that Sasuke not step a toe out of line this once. Karasu was going to do his best to save him...but what a price it would be in return.

"I will return...shortly."

Sasuke: This sparked some life at once, and Sasuke shook his head, moving to the edge of the sofa, but no further. "Where are you going?" he asked urgently.

Karasu wouldn't turn him in... right? After all, Sasuke had done so much to help him when they'd first met! Karasu wasn't the kind of person to betray someone, was he? Though he had cause to after Sasuke had disappeared for as long as he had. Maybe he thought this was the right time for revenge. Maybe he was angry. Maybe he didn't want Sasuke here at all and this kind air was all a front.

"...Damn it, Karasu, I want to know... I need to know! You can't just walk out of here and leave me..."

Karasu: He grabbed Sasuke then, easily hauling the shorter man up and into his arms, all but carrying him towards his bedroom.

"Don't be a fool." he hissed. "You may have attempted to do harm to me without reason...but I won't turn my back on you so easily...not as easily as you did me." His words were chosen purposefully to hurt the other, and to ram home that he was Sasuke's only chance at survival and safety.

"I am going to retrieve the evidence and clean up your mistake. You will remain here and you will rest. Do I...make myself clear?" and then he was hauling Sasuke onto the bed, beside GrisGris, staring down at him.

Sasuke: No part of Sasuke had expected to be hauled into Karasu's arms so easily, and he fought being carried, but to no avail. Half of what the other man said had been heard, but the more important seemed to be the tail end, anyways. Karasu was being assertive... and he didn't sound like he was going to tolerate any sort of disobedience.

Sasuke, in no position to disobey really, nodded, looking up at the other man. That was the problem with trusting people. Once you did... your life was sometimes in their hands and no longer in your own.

"...OK," he muttered, chest tight, eyes wide, but wanting to shut. He didn't know how Karasu was going to succeed, but something told Sasuke that the man would. He had a way of... always getting what he wanted.

Beside him GrisGris meowed at being disturbed, getting up to settle down closer to Sasuke's side.

Karasu: Karasu took the pains of covering the other with a thick comforter, leaning down to caress his cheek, smiling ever so faintly.

"Don't worry." he purred then, eyes narrowing, but not in displeasure.

"I'm going to give you back your life...You just stay here...take care of yourself until I return. No leaving...I won't be gone long..." and then he was slipping away, carefully leaving the room after closing the door. The bag and gun were slung under the couch for now and then Karasu was grabbing his keys. He had to make it to the hospital quickly. With any luck, getting the evidence back wouldn't prove to be too risky to himself.
