I voted last Thursday.
Apparently Blo-No's city clerk's office isn't fond of college students and our heathen democratic ways. They take their sweet time processing our registration info if it comes from any of the student groups that register people on the quad. Few people have gotten their voter ID cards. I went at 9:10am on Thursday and didn't get done until 10am partially because I hadn't even been entered into the system yet.
When students go to vote tomorrow without their Voter cards election judges will have to call us all in individually to the city clerks office. Ridiculous. No wonder college students don't vote, they make it fucking hard for us.
Honestly, I've paid embarrassingly little attention to the election. Sure, I probably know more than the majority of ISU students, but let's face it, that's because most ISU students are borderline retarded. I decided I'd vote for Obama ages ago and everything else feels pretty moot at this point. I really haven't been following politics like I used to. I think by my Junior or Senior year the news just angered me so much I couldn't handle it anymore. It just made me feel so powerless. I remember being near tears when Bush got re-elected, I was so angry.
My friend Nick is really involved in College Democrats and like 3 other political clubs. He's been spending a lot of his Saturdays going to register people in Indiana since last fall. I don't think I could handle it if I were him. Doing so much and working so hard to get Obama elected... What if he loses? I know polls and...reason says he won't lose but I just get scared.
I guess I'm hopeful that I might be able to really follow current events again. If Obama wins I might stop being such a fatalist.
