AC3 tally

Nov 21, 2006 13:26

I want a bishounen to call my own. One who's musically inclined, but not one of those insipid pop/rock stars. One that I can come home to from MWOS to who can sympathize when I complain to him about the nightmare of dissonant christmas carols. But not a goody-two-shoes who only listens to classical music either... He's a folky kind of guy who doesn't bring his guitar to school and plays rock songs that I don't know and makes me sad. Or, if he does bring his guitar to school, he takes the time to teach them to me so I don't have to be sad. And he has a PS 2 with all the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts and he lets me play them a lot... And he should like Trigun. *starry eyes* Okay. Mooning=over.

I suppose I should recount my AC3 experience, which was very fun. I'll start with a tally of my loot.

-1 print of Youko/Rakushun (Twelve Kingdoms) I've never really thought of them as a possible couple before, but I have to admit I like the idea of that far more than I like the idea of Youko/Keiki, especially in the light of Keiki's experience with his previous Queen.
-1 Trigun bookmark. I'm so cheap. I could have bought an actual print, you know, something I'm less likely to lose? But hey.
-1 fluffy star plushie I bought on the urging of Ari. It's so cute and cuddly! ^^
-1 Trigun Doujinshi that I also bought on Ari's urging. I'm never buying another doujin again. I can't read it and over half the pages were nothing but text.
-1 Hakkai doll. I bought it in the Artist's Alley after talking to the artist for a while. I would have felt bad for not buying anything otherwise. Also, they're just weird little curiosities. I probably could have regretted not buying one.
-1 Howl Keychain, because it's so adorable! *cuddles*
-Trigun Maximum Volume 10. WOLFWOOD DIES IN IT! TT_TT Knowing it was going to happen makes it less painful, but still.
-Loveless Volume 3. MMmmmm, Loveless. Only 3 volumes left to collect. *happydances*
-Doll Volumes 3, 4 and 5. I found out on the busride home that Ari not only knows about Doll but likes it very much. This is a pleasant surprise. Volumes 3 and 5 are at her house right now. I like the series because it reminds me of Chobits and Asimov's robot series. I'm thinking: 'so many of these stories could have been avoided if Dolls functioned on the principles of the Three Laws of Robotics.'
-Berserk Volumes 2 and 3. I know Ari doesn't approve of Berserk because of the art, and possibly because of Guts/Gatts' name, but I really like the series. In volume three I got my first glimpse of Manga Griffith and manga Demon!Griffith. (still can't believe his name is Femto, now. Kentaro Miura's naming skills make me sad...) And Puck... Puck! Such a cute adorable sweetheart of a fairy. He has no business in Guts' bloody, awful, serious, gory, horrible story, and as such I think he is a stroke of genius. I really like the way Miura draws him, too... Collecting Berserk is going to be a lot harder than collecting Petshop or Trigun because there are a lot more volumes than Petshop and Trigun I am buying as it gets translated.

So.

Friday night. I get to Ari's house at 9PM. She sits me down to look at her collection of images and then she makes me watch an episode of FMA while she finishes dyeing her hair. And then she tells me I ought to play the FMA video game. >_< yeah. I sucked at it. I sucked so badly. The cutscenes looked and sounded like scenes from the actual anime though. I was impressed. Around 2 AM we figure if we get any sleep, we'll miss the bus, so we decide we ought to stay awake. Both of us are in our pyjamas at this point, so we decide to go to the dep and get snacks and Red Bull to last us through the wee hours of the morning.

Saturday morning. Ari and I played cards for a while, while drinking red bull and eating coffee crisp. Oh, and chips. And speaking of chips, you owe me a bag of them, Ari. We then played tic-tac-toe and hangman. And then we drew. Ari drew Ed, and I tried to avoid drawing Lute, whom I normally draw when I can't think of anything else. At some point, Ari said: 'I like drawing unicorns!' And because we were both sleep-deprived and hyped up on stimulants, we thought that was hilariously funny. Then, at around 4 AM, we started getting ready to go. We each had half a bagel and cream cheese, even though neither of us were particularly hungry, because we knew we needed to eat. At 5 AM we took a taxi to Berri where the buses are and then we bought our tickets. We met another con-goer as we were waiting for our bus. He cosplayed as Solid Snake, and he had a box with him. So Ari called him variously Box-chan, Snake, and Snake-chan? I think? So we talked to him on the bus. I lent Ari my SP so she could play Pokemon Silver, which we concurred was hardcore. We both slept for a while on the bus. Lucky there weren't many people. I took a bench all to myself and just lay down. When I woke up, I felt sore. But that's only to be expected. Then, when we got off the bus, we didn't know how to get to the con from the station. Lucky that Snake was with us. We took a city bus to our hotel and we had fun waiting to clear up some confusion about our hotel room and meeting Keily and Steve and Emra. Then getting registered for the con. We spent the rest of our money- I mean, morning in the dealer's room and the artists' alley, where I spent all my spending money in one shot, practically. We finally got our hotel room at around 12 'o'clock.

Saturday afternoon. I went to Keily's panel, which was fun, although I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. Keily can really sing, even when, as she says, she is sick. So after the panel, I ducked into a screening room and caught the second episode of some insipid magical girl show called Sugar Sugar Rune. Then I went back to the hotel room and read a while. Ari came in for a nap and asked me to wake her after she'd slept two or three hours.

Saturday evening. Still not particularly hungry, but knowing I had to eat sometime, I woke Ari enough to tell her I'd be out for a while, and set in search of the food court she had mentioned, only to find that Subway was out of bread, the thing in the middle was closed. So I had a wrap at the greek take-out place. While I was eating, I tried to calculate the amount of time since I last really slept, and I realized that I had only had an hour of sleep in the last 30 hours. After supper I checked out the screening room and got bored after 10 minutes, and then went back to the room to sleep.

Saturday night. I got woken up at around 9, by a bunch of people coming into the room. Steve, Emra, and a few people I had seen around the con, but hadn't personally met. I was cranky from being woken up and unable to deal with pervertedness this soon after waking up so... yeah. Con people are funny. They're total strangers, but they don't act like they are, and you don't act like you are. it's all friendly and stuff. Still, I got kind of upset, although it was mostly my fault. I'd been alone for much of the day, and I was deliberately not being sociable. But Ari talked me into going downstairs and just hanging out, so we did just that, and we ran into Keily cosplaying as a tired Hattori near the dance room. So we had fun, and the three of us danced the Macarena with Tuxedo Mask, and Ari disappeared for a while, and Keily wrote down the words to Brothers in Ari's book. And we started singing it, and it was a little awkward because I hadn't heard the song many times before, so I wasn't sure how it went, but we sounded really good together. Keily, do you wanna start a group? I bet we could make it to the top ten on Much Music! XD kidding. But seriously, we sing well together. Then Ari came back, and we took a picture with a Greed cosplayer, and then we sat down with a Jin and some other guys and we taked about Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy and that was fun. Then I started getting tired, so at around 1 AM I went back to the hotel room and went to sleep.

Saturday morning/afternoon. Keith woke us up at 11 to tell us that we only had an hour until check-out. According to Keith I gave him a really dirty look. I can't really remember the look on my face, but I think I remember thanking him for the warning. So somehow, we all got packed and down before noon. There was a fairly large line at the check-out counter. I spent the rest of the day lugging my stuff around. I probably could have left it with everyone else's luggage, but I didn't feel like it. I found my way to the Name that anime tune panel. I talked to the nice woman in the seat beside mine, and I had a great time trying to guess. I got enough of them right that the announce fairly ordered me to enter my name in the ballot so that I might get picked for the next round. But I didn't. After the panel, I went out to lunch. I kinda attached myself to a group of cosplayers that included the Jin from last night, and a Cloud and an Aeris. We went to Subway and I had a wrap. When I got back to the hotel, I went looking for my friends, and Ari told me she had looked everywhere. So I apologized for disappearing on her and we hung out for the rest of the convention. We met an artist and we sort of read a yaoi manga together with another girl who happend to be sitting on the couch with us.

Then I played my gameboy on the trip home.
