So I met Mike Patton tonight: he was shorter than I imagined him to be, but boy oh boy did Peeping Tom ever kick ass. They did a Lovage track, and most of what I wanted to hear from the PT album. Rahzel did this wicked solo beat box vocal madness, which I found totally impressive, and opened my ears to what good hip hop has to offer. Amongst so much crap, it was very cool to hear some honest breaks and old school vocal work. But Patton is who I was there to see, and I was not disappointed. The guitarist is from the Dub Trio, and he slipped me a sampler with the original version of 'Not Alone' with some other tracks, and a promise to play a proper show in Toronto with PT, and Dub Trio as openers. That would be good, as my only complaint was the set was a mere 45 mins (but what can you do, they were opening for Gnarls Barkley).
Gnarls Barkley were ok, not my thing and too many covers for my taste, but the hipster crowd at the Kool Haus seemed into it. Whatever floats yer boat.
To end off the night, Matt and I headed for a pint, and I nabbed a cool coaster for Niagara's Best brewery, with a blonde pin up girl, a la Varga, in the artwork.
In other news, I have found a band to manage, and am very excited about Above Us... The Waves. You will be hearing more about them never fear.
Onward Xtian Soldiers....
P.S. Doesn't Xtina's boobs look wicked in her new video, with her new jiggly dance at the end? And with that, sweetest dreams you perverts.
