The door creaks again, and the hesitant footfalls that follow are ones that Diarmuid would recognize anywhere. The clothes Issei was given don't fit him quite properly, adding to the appearances of nervousness as he sits on Diarmuid's other side. "She's right, you know. You should go to bed and worry less, at least for a moment."
...Diarmuid suspects that there is something vital he hasn't yet understood in this conversation. "What do you mean?"
The two share a look; Issei nods to her, and Grainne begins. "You are my love, Diarmuid; there is nothing I would not give for you nor anything that we cannot overcome if we are together. What has happened is strange, but I do not love you any less for it." Her voice holds the confidence it has always had: this is what she wants, and she has no regrets in saying it.
Even in the candlelight, the redness on Issei's face is apparent. "You are so dear to me. I don't have words for what I feel for you, only that no one else compares. Your happiness is my pursuit, and I will do anything to achieve it."
They glance at each other again. Then, both lean into kiss his cheeks.
Diarmuid feels light-headed. "Wh-what...?" He understands everything that they just said, or at least he heard each of the words. He just hasn't processed their meaning yet.
Issei's arms slide around him as Grainne moves to kiss his lips, quieting further questions. He has never forgotten this feeling, and every intimate detail is exactly as it was except for Issei murmuring endearments into his shoulder before laying small kisses on every patch of exposed skin. Those turn into longer kisses at about the same time that Grainne kissing him would have started to make him quiver on its own; with both of them working against him, he's helpless.
