This…that…oh, and the other.

My Aunt called today to see if I can sit with the kids during the day this Saturday as they are going with their eldest for her soccer game in Waco. We still need to work out the logistics but it may be doable. There's a party at Linda's (of Amberhawke) that night that sounds fun. Pot luck, a request to bring instruments, and canned food to donate to the local food bank. Sounds good to me.

I called Scarborough today and discussed the possibility of obtaining some sort of employment during the time leading up to Opening Day. If I am to do Scarborough this year, I need someway to afford the repairs on my "Faire" guitar. Some possibilities were discussed. Some ideas suggested. Result: I need to get an estimate on the cost of repair. Let's see…the earliest I may be able to get somewhere to do that might be Monday…

For those wondering, no, I haven't yet made a decision of any kind. But one sticking point will be the guitar. If I cannot afford the repairs or if the guitar cannot be repaired or if I cannot obtain a guitar to use then I don't see how I could participate. Yes, I know I could still do a character. But to be out there every weekend and not be able to join in with the music…!

Tonight I went over to fdlgrl's to practice some music. Naturally, I'm still attempting to get a handle on this new style in Drop-D tuning. It's very exciting when I hit on something so very right. Heh. Sounds like a train wreck when I get the fingerings wrong. Actually, with all that's been happening of late, I haven't had much time to get back to the video. Gonna see if I can devote more time to it tomorrow before Spriggan rehearsals.

For those who are interested, the calenders say:
Ray Manzarek (B) 1935, Chicago, IL, keyboardist for The Doors. Wrote those breathtaking riffs for Light My Fire and Don't You Love Her Madly.
Steve Hackett (B) 1950. Originally with Genesis, short gig with GTR, then back to Genesis.

1976-Sal Mineo dies of a fatal stab wound at his home in Hollywood, CA. There were never any arrests, plenty of suspects, and a lifestyle that made it all too easy…
