Hello, Dude. I'm glad you could make it.

Finally, it appears that my obsession with laptops can be put to rest. After months of looking at different brands and models, going crazy over specifications and prices, watching my old laptop become senile, and all while I still did not have the money to buy a new laptop, I made my choice and bought one. I expect FedEx to ring the doorbell any ( Read more... )

yeah, you're lucky that they finally added fucking touchpads to those things, I hate my dad's thinkpad. The centrino is pretty sexy, but if you actually plan to get any use out of that radeon, prepared to yank a few hairs out of your head trying to get drivers in a few months. ATI just keeps passing me around to different people on it.
Also, wireless is sex

also, do yourself a favor and get yourself a tiny optical mouse, they make all touchpad worries disintegrate.

Yes, I've got one of those, they are cool. Actually, it's my brother's, so maybe I should get my own. But the thing is that most of the time I'm not even at a desk, just sitting in my papasan or on the couch. And I'm getting used to the touchpad. It's small, but pretty responsive. The main thing is that the difference between this laptop and my old one is night and fucking day. What I will need is some headphones. Know of any decent cheap ones? Emphasis on cheap, since I spent all my money on the laptop.

Or maybe these if you want to spend more. Both have excellent frequency response, and Sony makes good headphones in general.

Gotta be kidding. Get the classic sony V6's or their successor, the 7506. Both of those deliver pure, /flat/ sound, and the V6 costs about the same.

wait that little dot? that thing is fucking impossible. I hate all stupid laptop pointing devices. give me an honest to god mouse, or at least our somewhat effective mindrive any day.

I find the little dot is fine for most non-game mouse neccesitated applications. I hate the touchpad cuz I'm always accidentally clicking on things or dragging the wrong things... give me an eraser mouse. but for games, dude an optical fullsize mouse.
