Wherever Britain ruled and left, it created multiple issues for those countries. So, why wasn’t Britain held responsible and punished for its follies?

I am sure Britain made enough crimes occupying and exploiting India and another parts of it’s Empire. Especially if correct people are counting ))))
However, there is no effective international law. Weak USA lead attempts to impose something vaguely resembling international law by military force and sanctions are rather favorable to Britain.
Basically you have to win over big country to make it pay for it’s crime. Last time it happen so I noticed is payments from Germany.
India (and China) and other parts of former Empire must apply force to extract compensation - but they are too weak, far away and divided, and this issue is apparently not first priority for them.
