The Hyperloop
A very interesting proposal for an ultrafast (just barely subsonic) mode of transportation. The idea of a tube with low air pressure (but not vacuum) makes a lot of sense.
A key aspect of the project is that it requires much less space than a standard high-speed train and can be laid along (above?) the major highways with only minor modifications to the existing infrastructure.
