Must be some kind of miracle, eh? Anyway, figured a life update is in order, since things are heading toward being official.
I'm in the process of moving to Orlando. I'll be moving in permanently with Paul once I get back to Hayesville to pack up and/or throw out a few more things. It's a small one bedroom apartment, but it's big enough for just the two of us. I've been here, somewhat unexpectedly, since the end of November last year. I was only planning to stay past New Years, but things happened, and happily my stay was extended. I've moved my clothes and most of my books (not quite two whole bookshelves worth) here already, and have spent the last few months getting the kitchen out of bachelor-ville. It's almost fully functional now! ^_^ (No Paul, I don't need a food processor. I promise.)
In related news, I am FINALLY teaching myself to cook. It would have happened eventually, but things are much speedier and more enjoyable now that I have a Better Homes and Gardens Recipe app on my Kindle. There are 500+ recipes included for free, along with dozens of helpful how-to tips for people like me. I find I enjoy reading recipes almost as much as reading sci-fi and fantasy, since it is an appropriately foreign concept for me. ^_^ I've acquired a spring-form pan from IKEA, and am really excited to try my hand at making a Cafe au Lait Cheesecake! I've become somewhat domestic, and am not finding it disagreeable. I'm really rather enjoying playing housewife until I get down here permanently and go to work for Disney (hopefully).
I'll be applying to work at Disney as soon as I get used to driving around here. It'll be better than fast food or gas station jobs, and not so hard on my body as hotel work is. Once I get hired I'll be helping to pay some bills here, but mostly saving up to go back to school and get my teaching degree. I'm aiming to teach kindergarten, not surprisingly. And I'm really looking forward to getting back in and FINALLY finishing school. It'll probably be a while before I've saved enough, but it'll be worth it to be able to put all that nonsense behind me and get that damned piece of paper.
In the meantime, I'm spending a lot of time online while Paul's at work or sleeping after a long shift. We discovered a really fun MMORPG from aeriagames.com called Eden Eternal, and I've been sinking a lot of hours into it. It's really pretty to look at, especially on Paul's computer, as my poor laptop is not entirely up to the task some days. There are lots of different classes to choose from, and the class branches all intertwine, so it's encouraged to play around and try several different classes. There are pets that can help you fight monsters, or you can form parties and raid the dungeons, have PvP battles, and lots of other fun things. If you are interested in that sort of thing, you should go check it out. I definitely recommend it.
Lastly, I've been in a nostalgic musical mood lately, and have been revisiting old favorites. So along with our favorite J-Pop, I've been listening to Postal Service, Mountain Goats, Decemberists, They Might be Giants, etc. And among my roamings, I've found some Carbon Leaf albums I was unaware of, and am enjoying immensely! So a special thanks to John for that one. ^_^
