Thoughts on the original NJO plan...

So the NJO was originally supposed to have Jacen die in the place of Anakin, but that always made me wonder -- would Anakin be in the same place Jacen is now if their roles were reversed and Jacen had died in the NJO?

Or would it be completely different?

You know, you'd think Anakin being as powerful as he was, it'd be so easy for him to fall to the dark side...

...but from what I remember about Anakin, I feel like he had such an innocence about him that would make it really unbelievable to think that he would fall to the dark side. Jaina was always hot-headed, Jacen was always questioning and doubting the Force, but Anakin--especially in the EoV duology and Star By Star, he was so sure in the Force, so confident in the powers that it bestowed on him. Not in an arrogant way (even though Anakin certainly wasn't a perfect child, especially in the beginning of the NJO), just in a very understanding way. He really was wise beyond his years, and in that sense, I think it was appropriate that he died young, because... I dunno, it's almost like someone like him was too worthy for the living world. (Wow, that sounded cheesy.) At the very least, I'm glad they killed him before they corrupted his innocence.

Then again, what else could they have done? Where else could they have taken LotF? I dunno, Dark Nest was so boring without the internal conflict--LotF really, REALLY needed to have some serious internal conflict to make it interesting, and I think Jacen falling to the dark side was perfect for that. Could that have been Anakin? Sure, but I think it would've been a little cliche for another Anakin to fall to the dark side and become a Sith Lord.

I... don't really know if that answered anything. In this particular case, it's hard to imagine a story with Anakin in the place of Jacen, because the two of them were so different. Would Anakin taken a 5-year Force journey if he had gone through was Jacen went through in Traitor? Since Anakin seemed so much more confident in the Force that Jacen was during NJO, I can't really see Anakin feeling the need to explore the Force even more. I think he would've preferred to stay and lead the Jedi Order into a new Era, whereas Jacen doesn't feel like the Force is perfect, and he needs to explore every aspect of it before he decides what is best. Anakin was pretty content with the knowledge that he had.

:\ I think I just ended up asking more questions than I answered. I FAIL.

P.S. I love love LOVE your icon. YUM.

LOL, the retarded thing is that I really just wanted to comment on Heather's icon, but I felt stupid saying "OMG UR ICON IS HOT" without contributing to the actual conversation. I started typing, and then before I knew it I had written a god damn novel! Damn you, Star Wars! *shakes fist*

Why must all Star Wars artists completely skew the age of the character they are rendering?

Do you know Mara is 60 in Sacrifice?? Am I really expected to believe that the Mara on the cover of Sacrifice is 60? I mean, sure, medicine has come a long way, but this isn't Death Becomes Her. >:O

I think Mara was a vampire. Jacen injected her with holy water. He's actually a Slayer.
