Times have changed

When I see my sister and her friends, I know that times are really changing. Not in a good way either. I started to correspond with this sixth grader named Emily. She’s tall and hyper. I help out the intermediate band at her elementary school every Thursday. So that's how I’ve come to know her and her other giggly friends. She sent me this email today:

"yes I check my mail a lot thats because im so bored! Last night I was at my friends birthday party and I asked this guy out and im so scared about what hes going to say!! we talked on the phone to him 4 so long now im really tired well I gotta go"

I cracked up after reading that. I didn't even know sixth graders asked each other "out." I wonder what they do? I mean, they can't go anywhere. Perhaps just hold hands around school and create a lot of drama. When I was in sixth grade, there were a lot of crushes and flirting but no one really went out w/ anyone. Hmmmm...

Today, I almost ran out of gas on the freeway. Oh my god. It was the freakiest thing ever. I don't want to think about it anymore.

So last night I went to the girl's basketball game. It was the best game ever. We were leading almost the whole first half. Then after halftime, St. Francis started kicking our butts. 1 second before the buzzer went off, we were two points behind. Everyone thought there was no way we could win. We called a time out and cooked up some wicked strategy. At the buzzer, one of our girls leaped up and put that ball right into the net. Everyone went crazy. We went into overtime and totally killed them. I talk like I was playing in the game or something. But yes, it was a good game.

But then later, Kim got totally pissed because she was supposed to give Diana and Krystine a ride home. Except they went to mingle with the crowd and we couldn't find them. Finally they showed up, made up all these excuses. Like, "We were waiting for YOU guys." Kim was bitter the whole night. Kim absolutely hates Krystine and dropped her off first. And then we got a movie and went to Nora’s house.

I have nothing more to say. I start my job at Hallmark tomorrow.
