Leadership

Would you rather lead or follow? Why? What role do you see yourself playing out over your life, leader or follower?

A long time ago the answer to this question would have been so different. Much has changed, so much that I almost cannot believe.

Being the leader of your own direction in life is much different to leading an organisation; making the hard decisions, choosing between emotions and duty.

Obernewtyn has been lead by Rushton and Elspeth with such strength and courage that I never thought I could contend with.

I have always had my own direction in my life. I make my own decisions, now more than ever. Many things have happened to change my answer to this question. I feel stronger and more determined. I will lead because I know I can right now. I will lead myself, as always, and I can accept this new leadership I have been offered. I can accept it because I feel strong enough.

Being a follower does not mean you are weak. Strength comes in different shapes and sizes, and a certain strength is what is required of a leader.

I do not want to be seen as weak, of course. I know I would not be seen as weak if I weren't a leader, but I feel that I must live up to my full potential. Right now this leadership is my calling, and I will take it.
