transference

an empty shell filled
without fear
in understanding
the beast that lingers
taunts with certainty
a threat unvoiced
ominous
satisfied
so little of what the guardian loves remains
unworthy in the mirrored eyes of doubt
run
into the talons of the predator
or the arms of the protector
they are not the same
remember
they are not the same.
